Spencer immediately impacted the game with a layup on his first touch, before stepping out and hitting a mid-range jumper at the 12:42 mark.
The Huskies pushed the lead to 25-6 with a 17-2 run capped by a 3-pointer from freshman
Devon Begley and an old-fashioned 3-point play from redshirt sophomore
Kwesi Abakah.Â
Begley then hit an off-balance shot in the lane as part of a 3-point play to give NU a commanding 38-16 cushion with 6:30 remaining in the first half.
Curry did his best to bring JMU back, draining a pair of triples as part of a 7-0 run to make it 40-26 Huskies with under four minutes to play in the frame.
The Dukes would get no closer the rest of the way, however, as the hosts pushed their lead to as many as 28 at 74-46 with 9:20 left in the game.
Redshirt junior
Caleb Donnelly and sophomore
Jimmy Marshall added buckets later in the half to cement an impressive team effort.
