WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – The Northeastern women's swimming and diving team won its second team meet of the season on Saturday at the 2015 Dartmouth Invitational as the Huskies scored 1,007 overall points, edging out meet-host Dartmouth by just one point (1,006 overall points). Ironically, NU came up one point short against the Big Green in its head-to-head dual meet (176-177), but the Huskies managed to defeat both Massachusetts, 232-114, and Connecticut College, 268-75.

After placing first in the 400 medley relay in the final event of day one, Northeastern (7-4, 2-2 CAA) picked up right where it left off on day two as Christine Leong, Taylor Ellis, Erica DeMunbrun, and Anna Schegoleva finished first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.29. The Huskies' A-team was the only relay squad in the event that had all four swimmers record sub-30 second sprint times.

Only two Northeastern swimmers competed in the 400 IM, but both took home top-10 results. Leong swam to an eighth-place time of 4:45.57 and was just 0.15 seconds behind sixth place, while Browne tagged the wall in 10th place with a time of 4:50.66.

Co-captain Anna Schegoleva (57.15) and freshman swimmer Sara Touchette-McGowan (57.31) finished one-two in the 100 butterfly, while sophomore Delaney Lanker placed fourth with a time of 59.20. Samira Hoesl (59.82) and Caroline O'Brien (1:00.00) rounded out the top 10 in ninth and 10th place, respectively, as the Huskies added 68 points to their team-meet score.

Touchette-McGowan followed a strong performance in the 100 butterfly with another second-place finish in the 200 freestyle, swimming to a time of 1:55.51. Megan Foran ended roughly half a second behind Massachusetts' Zoe Judd for fifth place, but the senior co-captain was content with a a sixth-place time of 1:56.84.

Northeastern stole the spotlight in the 100 breaststroke as the Huskies again placed one-two, earning a total of four top-10 results. Ellis swam to victory with a first-place time of 1:04.63, while Hoesl finished directly behind her in second place with a time of 1:06.68. Tove Bjork cracked the top five with a fourth-place time of 1:09.05, and Amanda Liew took home a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:10.49.

Schegoleva put Northeastern in front again as the senior edged out Dartmouth's Kendese Nangle by only 0.10 seconds for first place in the 100 backstroke. Leong managed to grab third place with a time of 59.16, while Browne (1:01.20) and Lanker (1:02.00) were both top-15 swimmers.

Although Dartmouth finished one-two-three in the 1650 freestyle, the Huskies claimed each of the next three spots with great performances by Domeier (18:02.29), Foran (18:03.35), and Geiger (18:13.90). Anila Mehta rounded out the field in eighth place with a time of 20:29.66.

The Big Green would again take the top two spots in the 200 backstroke away from Northeastern, but Leong helped keep the Huskies competitive with a third-place time of 2:08.83. Browne (2:13.49) won a sprint for eighth place, finishing 0.09 seconds ahead of Dartmouth's Caroline Filan.

Touchette-McGowan brought NU another 20 overall points in the 100 freestyle, as the freshman from Dorval, Quebec swam to a first-place time of 52.85. Schegoleva scooted into the top five with a time of 53.53, edging out Ellis by just under 0.20 seconds. Rachel Green (54.06), Liew (55.31), and Foran (55.35) all finished in the top 20.

Looking to distance itself from Dartmouth, the Huskies picked up 37 overall points with a one-two finish by Ellis (2:22.57) and Hoesl (2:22.66) in the 200 breaststroke. Lanker earned Northeastern 16 points with a third-place result in the 200 butterfly (2:08.07), while O'Brien (2:12.07) and Domeier (2:13.28) finished in eighth and 10th, respectively.

On the boards, Jacquelyn Gover placed first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 265.04 and second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 251.17. Alyssa Seales also took home two top-five finishes in the 3-meter (247.05) and 1-meter (229.64) diving events.

With two top-five results coming in the final event of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, Northeastern clinched its second team-meet victory of the 2014-15 season. The Huskies' A-team of Ellis, Foran, Domeier, and Touchette-McGowan placed second with a time of 3:35.31, while the B-team comprised of Liew, Geiger, Hill, and O'Brien came in fifth place with a time of 3:44.16.

Northeastern will return to competition on Saturday, February 7 at the 2015 Connecticut Open in Storrs, Connecticut. The meet will serve as the final regular-season meet for the Huskies before the CAA championships.
