HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Northeastern women's soccer team (11-7-1) will open CAA tournament play on Sunday at No. 4 seed James Madison (11-6-2). The Huskies have not lost a CAA tournament game since a 1-0 defeat to VCU in 2011; since then, the Red & Black have posted a 3-0-3 mark in CAA postseason play.
HISTORY IN THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIPNortheastern is 6-3-4 all-time in CAA tournament games, including a 2-1-0 mark in true road matches. The Huskies have faced the Dukes three times in postseason play and own a 2-1-0 record. The last time Northeastern played at JMU in the CAA tournament, the Huskies claimed the 2013 conference crown with a 3-1 win over the Dukes at University Park.
TRYING FOR THE THREE-PEATAfter winning the 2013 and '14 CAA Championships, the Northeastern women's soccer team will look to become the first team since William & Mary in 1999-01 to claim three straight conference tournament crowns. The Huskies topped JMU, 3-1, to win the 2013 title game, before beating Hofstra, 2-0, in last year's championship match.
HISTORY VS. JMUNortheastern is 8-6-0 all-time against James Madison. In the most recent meeting between the teams, the Huskies topped the Dukes, 1-0, at University Park on Oct. 9.

CAA PLAYOFF BRACKET SETIn addition to Sunday's Northeastern/JMU match, No. 3 seed UNCW will also host No. 6 Delaware in a quarterfinal contest. The winner of the NU/JMU game will face No. 1 Hofstra next weekend in Hempstead, N.Y., while the UNCW/Delaware winner will take on No. 2 William & Mary.
DOWD: ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICTJunior
Mackenzie Dowd was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team on Thursday. A dual major in criminal justice and psychology, Dowd owns a perfect 4.0 GPA this year, while also leading the Huskies with 14 points. Dowd was also named Academic All-District last season, and went on to earn Academic All-American status after posting a 4.0 GPA and 14 points a season ago.
DOWD HONORED ON TDS TOP 100Junior
Mackenzie Dowd was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason National Top 100 list, as announced by the website on Oct. 16. Dowd was honored as the No. 61 player in the ranking, which includes the website's highest-ranked sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Division I women's soccer from Aug. 10-Oct. 14. Dowd was one of only three CAA players to make the Midseason Top 100, joining Hofstra's Leah Galton (No. 55) and James Madison's Ashley Herndon (No. 88).
FIRST ON THE BOARDNortheastern has scored within the first 10 minutes in seven matches this season. The Huskies are 11-2-0 in 2015 when scoring the first goal, compared to 0-5-0 when conceding first.
NU GARNERS REGIONAL ATTENTIONNortheastern maintained its top-10 standing in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll for the 10th consecutive week, coming in at No. 10 in the poll released on Oct. 27. Hofstra (No. 2), William & Mary (No. 3), UNCW (No. 4), and James Madison (No. 6) also remained in the poll, giving the CAA five of the top 10 slots overall.
