BOSTON – It's the mid-way point of the 2015-16 season for the Northeastern women's swimming and diving team and the Huskies look to close out the year on a high note at the Frank Elm Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey, on Friday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 22.

Defending the title
Last season, the Huskies made their debut appearance at the Frank Elm Invitational and clinched first place, their first team-meet victory since the 2007 Terrier Invitational at Boston University. The Red and Black sealed the deal after a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with Samira Hoesl, Jessica Colucci, Sara Touchette-McGowan, and Anna Schegoleva tagging the wall in 3:26.08 and setting a school record, which they later broke at the 2014-15 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship.

NU saw season-best performances from Jordan Domeier (1650 freestyle, 17:16.94), Rachael Geiger (1650 freestyle, 17:22.67) and Taylor Ellis (200 breaststroke, 2:17.52), while Touchette-McGowan set a new NU school record in the 100 freestyle (51.25), which she later broke at the league championships.

Sound bite
"The Frank Elm Invitational will be the mid-season check point for our squad. This invitational follows the same format as the CAA Championship, so it will allow our team to experience what championships in February will be like. Furthermore, it will give us a true indication as to how our training has progressed. We are extremely confident in the our preparations so we expect great performances this weekend," said head coach Roy Coates.

Strong gains
First-years Adrianna Ciebielski and Kierstin Chu both registered personal bests with the Red and Black during the MIT meet (Nov. 6). Ciebielski earned first place in the 200 breaststroke with 2:30.88 and second in the 100 breaststroke with 1:10.89. Chu took home first in the 100 backstroke with her personal best of 57.97. Also tabbing personal bests were Anila Mehta, who shaved off 10.79 from her previous time in the 1000 freestyle with 11:03.08, and Carly Schnabel with 59.54 in the 100 backstroke.

They're going to the 'Ship
Alyssa Seales and Jacquelyn Gover will be joining teammate Caroline Gonsalves at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in March 2016 after posting qualifying scores in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive during the MIT meet. Seales earned a new season-best of 276.08 in the 1-meter and 244.80 in the 3-meter, while Gover tabbed 273.83 and 247.35 in the dives, respectively.

What it means to be a Husky
If junior Kerry Treusdell could describe her experience with Northeastern swimming & diving in one word, it would be: Awesome.

Look ahead
Northeastern will end the year with its annual training trip to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, December 27 - January 3, 2016. The Huskies will pick up competition in the New Year with the Delaware Pod Meet and see CAA opponents the Blue Hens and Drexel. The meet is set for 12 p.m.
