BOSTON – Jeremy Miller had a career-high 18 points, Quincy Ford finished with his third double-double of the year and the Northeastern men's basketball team handed Stony Brook a 75-62 loss Saturday at Matthews Arena.

Miller notched 14 of his 18 points in the game during the first half behind three, three-point baskets. Ford registered 17 points to go along with 12 rebounds and added five blocks in the game while David Walker finished with 16 points for Northeastern (7-3).

Kwesi Abakah also added some quality points off the bench for Northeastern finishing the game with a career-high eight points in 12 minutes of action while T.J. Williams chipped in five points and seven rebounds on the day.

Jameel Warney paced the Seawolves (4-4) behind 29 points and 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough as the Huskies snapped a two-game losing streak, both against Stony Brook and on the year, and earned their first win over the Seawolves since the 2005 America East Tournament, Northeastern's final year in the conference.

Entering the game, Stony Brook held its opponents to just 27.3 percent shooting from three-point range. The Huskies finished the night shooting 53.3 percent from behind the arc.

Stony Brook had also outrebounded its opponents by almost 13 rebounds per game. The Huskies outrebounded the Seawolves 43-37.

Northeastern jumped out to an early lead, taking as much as a 22-9 lead using a 10-0 run from 14:33 until 10:21 in the first half, capped by a Caleb Donnelly three, to break the game wide open.

Stony Brook fired back with an 8-0 run of its own over the next three minutes to close the gap to five with 7:55 remaining in the first half. Both teams went scoreless over the next three minutes, but the Huskies finished out the half strong and headed into the locker room with a 38-27 lead, its largest halftime lead over a Division-I opponent.

In the second half, the Huskies kept the baskets coming and extended its lead to 19 points, the largest of the game, at the 16:31 mark. Stony Brook once again edged back into the game with a 13-0 run over the next five minutes, but the Huskies responded with a 6-0 run of their own.

Ford's play in the final minutes including 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks sealed the victory for the Huskies.

The Huskies will look to keep this momentum going when they play host to the No. 1 team in the nation, Michigan State, next Saturday, Dec. 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Matthews Arena as a part of the Northeastern Winter Showdown. The game can be found on NBC Sports network.
