Press ConferenceCHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Two goals from
Nolan Stevens, including the equalizer with 2:14 remaining in regulation, helped the Northeastern men's ice hockey team force a 3-3 tie at No. 2/3 Boston College on Saturday night at Conte Forum.
The Huskies, who erased 2-1 and 3-2 deficits during the contest, earned their first Hockey East point at Conte Forum since February 18, 2011, snapping an 0-4 skid. NU also received a goal from
Lincoln Griffin, his first collegiate tally, and a pair of assists from
Zach Aston-Reese while
Ryan Ruck made 23 stops in goal.
NU outshot the Eagles 36-26, including a 22-6 edge in the third period and overtime. Boston College, meanwhile, won 41-of-76 face-offs and held Northeastern to an 0-of-6 showing on the man advantage.
Goal descriptions:• The Eagles went up 1-0 less than five minutes into the first period on Miles Wood's seventh goal of the season. With Boston College maintaining puck possession in the NU zone, Austin Cangelosi fed Ian McCoshen for a shot at the point that Ruck handled, but the rebound popped right out to Wood in the slot, who buried it.
• Boston College made it a 2-0 game with 9:57 left in the frame as Alex Tuch took a long feed from Adam Gilmour and went in alone on Ruck. Tuch then deked left before firing a shot under Ruck's glove for the score.
• Northeastern answered just 31 seconds later, however, as
Nolan Stevens took a feed from
Zach Aston-Reese, lost a defender at the hashmarks then roofed a backhand over Demko's left shoulder for Stevens' team-leading sixth goal of the year.
• Griffin picked a good time to net his first collegiate goal, burying the equalizer with 11:28 to play in regulation. With NU cycling the puck around the Boston College end,
Dylan Sikura fed
Matt Benning with a pass up at the point. Benning then sent a low shot towards the cage, where Griffin redirected it past Demko for the score.
• Boston College would retake the lead with a shorthanded marker from Colin White with 8:49 left in the third period, stealing the puck from a Northeastern defender at the blue line, going in alone on Ruck and beating him glove side for his eighth of the year.

Eric Williams at the point to make it 3-3.
Stats of the game:• Northeastern is now 48-162-16 all-time against Boston College, and earns its first Hockey East point at Conte Forum since Feb. 18, 2011.
• Northeastern is now 4-2-1 all-time when facing the No. 2 team in the nation on the road.

Nolan Stevens has goals in each of his last three games, a new career-long. He also has four points in his last three games, and logged his first collegiate multi-goal game on Saturday.
• Aston-Reese is riding a three-game point streak (two goals, three assists), and has nine points (four goals, five assists) in his last seven games. He recorded his fifth multi-point game of the season.
• Griffin scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday. He is the second Husky to do so this season (
Adam Gaudette).
