Saturday's Results
BOSTON -- The Northeastern Huskies wrapped up the IC4A/ECAC championships in style with several members of the team having excellent outings during the three days of competition.
The Championships started on Friday, March 6 and ended on Sunday, March 8. The men earned a 12th-place finish with a point total of 25; the women finished in 43rd with one total point.
"We are a very young team with almost every contributor coming back next year," Director of Track and Field
Cathrine Erickson said following the meet.
Northeastern's weekend got underway on Friday, when
Nick Fofana competed in a heptathlon. Fofana put together strong performances in the seven events, resulting in a second-place finish with a score of 5086.
On Saturday, the men wrapped up seven top-10 finishes, while the women secured six top-25 finishes.
The events started with the 60-meter dash, where
Damani Wilson earned 14th place overall with a time of 7.02. In the next event, the 200-meter dash, it was
Donovan Henry leading the pack for Northeastern, taking home second place after completing his event in just 21.76.
Zachary Fraielli enjoyed success in the 5000-meter run by finishing ninth overall with a time of 14:28.23. Fraielli's teammates Henry,
Joshua Norris,
Jared Lane, and
Anthony Pavlich, earned a third-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay semifinals after crossing the finish line in 7:34.43.
Kyle Darrow's indoor season dominance continued in the long jump as the sophomore cleared 7.53 meters en route to a first-place finish. Northeastern held the top spot out of 27 competing teams at the end of the day Saturday.
For the women,
Kelsey Sullivan had a strong showing in the high jump, earning a 13th-place finish with a jump of 1.64 meters. In the pole vault,
Jacilyn Briggs, a junior in the program, took home eighth overall after recording a mark of 3.85 meters.
The Championships concluded on Sunday as Lane took home ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.25. Henry shined in the 400-meter dash as he also finished ninth after completing the event in just 48.10.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Henry, Norris, Pavlich and Lane finished sixth overall with a time of 3:12.75.
"
Kyle Darrow and
Nick Fofana did a great job putting us in the lead after day two with a really impressive impact from as just a sophomore and freshman," Erickson said. "The 4x400 breaking the indoor school record was also a highlight of the meet as we say goodbye and thank you to Josh Norris. He finished his collegiate eligibility with a 47.5 split on second leg of the relay. Donovan, Damani and Anthony also ran extremely well during the relay.
"Adding our newcomers into the mix next year, we are looking forward to an even stronger team contribution at this meet."
Next up for the track and field program are the NCAA Indoor Championships where
