2015 ScheduleBOSTON – The two-time defending CAA champion Northeastern women's soccer team released its 2015 schedule on Wednesday.
The Huskies will play nine matches at Parsons Field, and will take on three opponents that appeared in the 2014 NCAA tournament: South Carolina (SEC), Boston University (Patriot) and New Hampshire (America East).
"I'm very excited about the opponents we're going to face this season," said Northeastern head coach
Tracey Leone. "We'll be challenged right out of the gates with a trip to South Carolina, and then we'll see some great regional foes that will prepare us well for conference play."
After a pair of exhibition contests against UMass (Aug. 15) and the University of Montreal (Aug. 16), the Huskies will open the regular season in the Palmetto State against South Carolina on Aug. 21 and Furman on Aug. 23. The Gamecocks advanced to the final eight of last year's NCAA tournament, before bowing out to the eventual national champion, Florida State.
Upon returning to Boston, Northeastern will open its home schedule on Aug. 28 with a contest against St. Joseph's at Parsons Field. The Huskies are also scheduled to host Boston University (Sept. 3), Maine (Sept. 6) and Dartmouth (Sept. 18) in non-conference action.
In addition to the South Carolina trip, the Huskies will also travel to UMass Lowell (Aug. 30), Boston College (Sept. 10), Rhode Island (Sept. 13) and New Hampshire (Sept. 20) before the start of CAA play.
Northeastern will begin its title defense when conference action commences on Sept. 25 at Elon. The Huskies will also travel to William & Mary (Sept. 27), James Madison (Oct. 9) and Towson (Oct. 11), and will host Charleston (Oct. 2), UNCW (Oct. 4), Hofstra (Oct. 16), Drexel (Oct. 23) and Delaware (Oct. 25).
The 2015 CAA Championship is set for Nov. 1-8 on campus sites. The two-time defending CAA champions, Northeastern will look to become the first team since William & Mary in 1999-01 to win three consecutive conference crowns.
