2015-16 ScheduleBOSTON – Northeastern swimming and diving head coach
Roy Coates announced the team's 2015-16 schedule on Tuesday.
The competitive slate includes five home meets at Barletta Natatorium, including matchups against local foes Harvard, MIT, and Brown, as well as three invitationals prior to the CAA Championships in late February.
"This year's schedule is full of dynamic competition that will really challenge us each week," Coates explained. "Although we enjoy traveling, this year we are especially excited about the opportunity to host five meets. This will enable us to showcase our talented student-athletes to the Northeastern community."
The 2015-16 season begins on Sept. 26 when the Huskies host Wagner at Barletta Natatorium at 12 p.m. Additionally, Northeastern will host a scrimmage against Harvard on Oct. 17, and will also welcome MIT (Nov. 6), Brown (Nov. 13), and LIU Brooklyn (Jan. 30) in home action. The dual meet against LIU in January will also be Senior Day and Alumni Day at Barletta Natatorium.
The Red & Black will once again take part in the George Mason Quad Meet (Oct. 30-31) where they will face the host Patriots, as well as CAA opponents Drexel and Towson. The Huskies will see Drexel again on Jan. 9 at a CAA Pod Meet hosted by Delaware.
The Huskies' annual training trip will see the team travel to sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico from Dec. 27-Jan. 3. Northeastern also visited the island for last year's training trip, which saw NU head to the city of Ponce on the southern shore.Â
Northeastern is also set to compete in the Frank Elm Invitational (Nov. 20-22), the Dartmouth Invitational (Jan. 22-23), and the UConn Husky Invitational (Feb. 6), before taking on the field at the 2016 CAA Championships on Feb. 20-27. The conference diving crown will be decided on Feb. 20-21 in Newark, Delaware, while the the swimming championships will take place on Feb. 24-27 in Richmond, Virginia.
The Huskies placed fifth at the 2015 CAA Swimming Championships–matching their best-ever finish–while setting nine new school records in the process.
Now in his 23rd season at the helm of the Northeastern swimming and diving program, Coates has guided the Huskies to a winning dual-meet record in each of the last nine seasons. Coates will welcome back 18 letterwinners in 2015-16, while adding 10 talented newcomers to the mix.Â
