Heather Mottau and
Paige Savage of the Northeastern women's hockey team were among 83 invitees to the annual USA Hockey Women's National Festival on Aug. 11-16.
Held at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York, the festival will serve as a training session that will also be used to select two 22-player rosters for a pair of series against Canada on Aug. 19-23. The U.S. entries will feature an Under-18 Select Team and an Under-22 Select Team.
Coyne, Savage and Mottau were each invited to the same festival in 2014 as well.Â
Coyne, a rising senior, most recently won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship in April. The Palos Heights, Illinois, native will enter her final collegiate season ranked fifth on Northeastern's all-time scoring chart with 165 career points.Â
Savage, a native of Johns Creek, Georgia, previously represented the Stars and Stripes in 2014, when she helped the Americans defeat the Canadians in a three-game series contested in Calgary.
A rising junior, Mottau will look to break into the international ranks after earning Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star status as a sophomore last season. In just two years, Mottau has racked up 44 points from the blueline and has established herself as one of the premier puck-moving defensemen in the NCAA.Â
The Huskies will open the 2015-16 campaign on Sept. 26 at St. Lawrence. Season tickets for all home games are
on sale now through the Northeastern Athletics' ticket office.
