June Curry-Lindahl put home Northeastern field hockey's first goal of the 2015 season but it wasn't enough as No. 10 Northwestern defeated the Huskies 4-1 Sunday afternoon.

Becky Garner finished with 10 saves, facing 20 shots on the day. Curry-Lindahl finished with two shots, both on goal, while
Abbey MacLellan and
Kate Carlson also tallied shots for the Huskies.

Lindsay von der Luft finished the day with two saves while Isabel Flens tallied two goals on the day and Caroline Troncelliti led the team with four shots, all on goal.

Northwestern got on the board first late into the first half when Isabel Flens put a shot past Garner off of a penalty corner at 27:47. Flens was aided by Lisa McCarthy and Charlotte Martin.

The Wildcats added to their lead midway through the second half when McCarthy put home a shot off a feed from Flens for a 2-0 lead.

The Huskies got on board for the first time in 2015 when Curry-Lindahl scored her first collegiate goal off of a penalty corner. Senior

Natalie Stewart who set up Curry-Lindahl perfectly for the score to cut the Wildcats lead in half at 60:06.

Northwestern responded quickly with their own goal off of a penalty corner followed 30 seconds later by yet another score to take a 4-1 advantage and the win.

The Huskies return to action on Thursday, September 3 in their home opener when they take on 18th ranked UMass at Dedham Field at 5 p.m.
