COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Northeastern women's hockey team (1-0-1) was ranked No. 9 in the nation in the season's first USA Today/USA Hockey National Poll, announced Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The Huskies are one of three Hockey East institutions to grace the top 10, joining No. 2 Boston College and No. 8 Boston University.
Northeastern opened the 2015-16 season with a win and a tie at St. Lawrence in a matchup of two teams that were receiving votes in the preseason USCHO.com National Poll. The squads played to a 2-2 tie on Saturday as freshman netminder
Brittany Bugalski made 27 stops in her collegiate debut. Northeastern then erupted for nine goals on Sunday, led by a hat trick from senior
Kendall Coyne, to earn its first win of the young season in a 9-5 decision.
The No. 9 Huskies will open a seven-game homestand this Saturday with an exhibition contest against Toronto Leaside at 2 p.m.
