Postgame InterviewDurham, N.H. – Senior
Kendall Coyne broke the Northeastern record for most career points with a hat trick as part of a four-point day as the No. 8 Huskies (17-4-1, 12-2-0 WHEA) rolled to a 5-2 victory over New Hampshire (8-16-1, 5-10-0 WHEA) on Sunday at the Whittemore Center.
Coyne passed Hilary Witt '00 as the program's all-time points leader when she scored her second goal of the day–the eventual game-winning goal–early in the third period. Coyne then tacked on an assist and an empty-net goal to finish the day with 211 career points, three clear of Witt (208 points) at the top of the program points list.
"The most important part of this weekend was getting four points against a tough team like UNH," Coyne said after the game. "But it's a tremendous honor, and a testament to my teammates over the last four years. To surpass someone like coach Witt is pretty special since she's such a tremendous player and coach."
Junior

Taytum Clairmont also scored for Northeastern, while freshman netminder
Brittany Bugalski turned in a strong performance with 25 saves.

• Clairmont tacked on a second nearly eight minutes later. After taking a feed from sophomore

• UNH reduced the lead to 2-1 with 4:17 to play in the middle frame when Amy Boucher stuffed a loose puck by Bugalski following a long spell in the Huskies' zone.Â
• Coyne then broke the program record for most points with her second goal of the game 4:05 into the third period to make it 3-1. Sophomore
Halle Silva set up the play with a feed to Coyne at the top of the left circle. Coyne pivoted with the disc and whipped a low shot past UNH netminder Kyra Smith, and inside the right post.
• UNH again pulled within one just over six minutes later when Devan Taylor poked the puck home on the doorstep at the 10:23 mark.Â
• Northeastern responded quickly to regain its two-goal cushion when Scamurra shoveled a rebound through the legs of Smith at the 11:43 mark to make it 4-2.Â
• Coyne then completed her 11th career hat trick with an empty-net goal with 14 seconds to play, firing the puck home from a tough angle at the left of the cage.
