Northeastern returns to the road for its fourth CAA road game of the season

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team is back on the road when the Huskies head down to Newark, Del. for a meeting with Delaware Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
 
The Huskies and Blue Hens met for the first time last week on Thursday, Jan. 7, a 32-point, 88-56 victory for the Huskies, just the second ever 30+ point win over a conference opponent in school history.
                                                                  
Northeastern enters the game with an 11-7 record, 3-2 in CAA play after suffering its first home set back of the conference season Thursday vs. James Madison.  
 
Delaware enters the game with a 5-11 overall record, 0-5 in conference action.
 
QUICK HITS
• This is the 96th season of Northeastern men's basketball. NU has an all-time record of 1,165-1,077 (.520) in 2,242 games.
• This will be the 50th meeting between the two teams in program history
• Delaware holds a 27-22 lead against Northeastern in the series history, though Northeastern has won the last two
• The Huskies are coming off of a tough 75-63 loss against James Madison in Northeastern
• The Huskies will play their 10th road game of the season at Delaware on Saturday
• Coen tallied his 150th career win (all at Northeastern) with a 78-77 upset over No. 15/19 Miami on Nov. 27.
• The Huskies are 365-246 (.597) all-time in conference play including a 107-76 (.585) record since joining the CAA in the 2005-06 season.

HUSKIES ON THE ROAD
• Northeastern is 4-5 on the road in 2015-16 and 2-1 in CAA play
• Northeastern started the season off 2-1 on the road including a 78-77 buzzer beating victory at No. 15 Miami on Nov. 27
• Northeastern has had a roller coaster away record over the last five seasons, going over .500 on the road last year as well as in 2012-13

LAST WEEK IN HUSKY BASKETBALL
• Northeastern started the week with a loss to James Madison, 75-63, its first home conference loss of the season
• Northeastern won the tip and scored the first five points in the game, all from Jeremy Miller, but the Dukes responded with a 9-0 run of their own and never looked back
• Northeastern entered halftime behind 15 points, the largest halftime deficit of the season for the Huskies.
• JMU shot 66.7 percent from the field in the first half and finished with a 56.5 field goal percentage. They were 10-of-19 from three-point range.
• Miller led the Huskies with 19 points, a career best for the rookie, along with a team-best six rebounds
 
HUSKIES FROM DEEP
• The Huskies have made 154 field goals from behind the arc in 2015-16. The 154 made 3s ranks third in the CAA and 34th nationally
• The Huskies 3-point shooting percentage, .366, also is in the top of the conference in fourth, and 92nd nationally
• Northeastern has hit for at least 10 treys in nine of its 18 games this season
• Nine different Huskies have hit a three this season led by David Walker's 46 and Quincy Ford's 45
• Walker's 46 3FGs ranks third in the CAA and 52nd nationally, Ford's 45 rank fourth in the CAA and 59th nationally
• Northeastern connected on a school record-tying 14 3-pointers against Delaware (Jan. 7) as a school record eight different Huskies connected from deep during the game, one shy of the NCAA record (9).
• The school record has been set twice, both times against UNH, the last coming on Feb. 24, 2005.
• Against Vermont (Dec. 22), Northeastern combined for 13 threes on the day, one shy of the school record
• Northeastern was led by Quincy Ford (23 points, 7-of-12 3fg) and Caleb Donnelly (career-high 15 points, 5-of-7 3fg)
• The seven 3s for Ford and five for Donnelly were a career-best mark.
• Ford's also tied Walker's individual season-high seven set vs. Detroit and were the third most ever in Northeastern history tying six other players, including Walker.
• Six different Huskies hit a three-point shot against Western Michigan, the first time since Feb. 20, 2013 that six different Northeastern players connected from behind the arc in a single game.
 
NU'S RATING PERCENTAGE INDEX
•  Entering Saturday's game with Delaware, Northeastern is ranks 94th in the RPI, fourth highest in the CAA this season out of 351 Division-I programs
• William & Mary tops the conference with the 44th best RPI in the nation
• Delaware enters the contest with the worst best RPI in the conference, 243rd in the country
• After defeating previously unbeaten Miami, the Huskies tallied their highest RPI ranking of the season at No. 31 on Dec. 1
 
SEEING DOUBLE-DOUBLE
• Northeastern, as a squad, has registered seven double-doubles on the season.
• Quincy Ford leads the way with four double-doubles this season through the first 18 games of the year, a career-high for the redshirt senior
• The four double-doubles rank third in the CAA and 104th in the nation.
• Leading the CAA is Marvin King-Davis of Delaware with eight on the year.
• Ford had two double-doubles in his freshman (2011-12) and sophomore (2012-13) campaigns
• The four double-doubles are the most since Scott Eatherton had five last season
• Jeremy Miller, Zach Stahl, and David Walker also have a double-double on the year.
• Stahl registered his on Nov. 20 vs. FAU with a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds.
• Walker earned his first career double-double at Elon on Dec. 31 notching 26 points and a career-best 12 rebounds
• Miller became the fourth Husky with a double-double against Delaware (Jan. 7) when he achieved the feat for the first time in his career behind 15 points and 11 boards.
 
TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CHARITY
• Northeastern senior David Walker ranks 1st in the CAA for his free throw shooting percentage thus far in 2015-16
• Walker is 81-95 on the season from the free-throw line, with an 85.3 FT percentage which tops the conference and ranks 53rd in the country.
• His 81 free throws made rank third in the conference and 55th in the country
• Zach Stahl has been consistent at the charity stripe for Northeastern this year and is 41-49 on the year for a 83.7 FT%
• The Huskies, as a team, have taken 394 free throws, third in the conference and have capitalized on 283 of them (second in the CAA) for a free throw percentage of  71.8%, second in the conference and 87th nationally
• Northeastern has held its opponents to just 266 free throw attempts this year.
 
GET THAT OUTTA HERE
• Using a career-high, five block performance against Stony Brook, Quincy Ford now has 19 blocks on the year, fifth in the CAA this season
• Zach Stahl has notched 10 on the season, which ranks 16th in the conference and recorded at least one block in four consecutive games (Nov. 20-27)
• Rookies Jeremy Miller and Anthony Green also are in the top of the pack. Miller has 12 blocks on the season, which ranks 13th in the CAA while Green has tallied eight blocks on the season, and was the team leader prior to Ford's career day.
 
LOOKING FOR 100
• Bill Coen is currently the third-winningest coach in Northeastern history with 156 career wins (Jim Calhoun, 250 wins in 14 seasons; Dick Dukeshire, 204 wins in 13 seasons)
• Coen, who tallied his 150th career win in style with a buzzer beating victory over No. 15 Miami, is also closing
in on another milestone in his coaching career
• The 10th year coach is close to win No. 100 in CAA action, he currently has 95 conference victories

APPLYING PRESSURE
• The Huskies rank second in the CAA in thefts and rank 65th nationally, stealing the ball away from their opponent already 124 times on the season, or 6.9 per game.
• Quincy Ford and David Walker lead the way for the Huskies ranking third and fifth in the conference and 60th (30) and 91st (28) nationally.
• The steals come from added pressure and Northeastern has forced 12.7 turnovers per game
 
IN THE RECORD BOOK
• Quincy Ford has improved from 23rd, where he began the season on the Northeastern all-time scoring chart, to 12th place with 1,437 career points.
• Ford has tallied 297 points this season, and with his 18-point day at UNCW, he passed Derrick Lewis' 1,394 career points earned from 1986-89.
• Walker began the year in 29th, and with his 313 points this year, has moved into the Top-15 with 1,353 points.
• Walker jumped into 14th place after a seven point night against Delaware (Jan. 7) passing Joel Smith (1,328 - 2009-13)
• The duo also finds themselves on the career 3-point field goals list
• Ford can be found on the career blocks chart where he just moved into fifth place all-time
