DURHAM, N.H. – Sam Kurker tallied four points (two goals, two assists), and the Northeastern men's ice hockey team (7-12-4, 2-8-3) potted five second period goals to complete a weekend sweep of New Hampshire (8-10-4, 2-4-4) on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center, 6-2.

After a scoreless first period, the Huskies exploded for five goals in the middle frame to take a 5-2 lead through 40 minutes of play before Mike Jamieson netted his first collegiate tally midway through the third period to seal the victory.

The win gives the Huskies its first series sweep of the Wildcats since the 2007-08 season, and first regular season win at the Whittemore Center since Nov. 16, 2007. The victory also extends NU's unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) and makes Northeastern unbeaten in eight of its last nine games.

Ryan Ruck tied a season-high with 30 stops to backstop NU, which was 1-of-2 on the power play and also notched a shorthanded tally. Adam Gaudette, Dylan Sikura and Lincoln Griffin also scored for Northeastern, which was outshot 32-21 by the Wildcats. Dan Correale and Marcus Vela both scored for UNH, while Danny Tirone made 14 stops before being replaced by Jamie Regan late in regulation.

Goal descriptions:
• Northeastern struck first less than three minutes into the second period when Kurker knocked home his fourth of the year, finishing off some tic-tac-toe passing between Lincoln Griffin and Brendan Collier, culminating with a Kurker finish from atop the crease to give NU a 1-0 lead.

• UNH answered with 8:31 left in the second as Dan Correale netted his 14th goal of the year, taking a pass from Andrew Poturalski, speeding around the cage and beating Ruck on a wraparound to level the score at one.

Adam Gaudette put the Huskies back on top just two minutes after the Correale tally, jumping off the bench to join the NU power play, taking a pass from Nolan Stevens at the right side and sending a laser from the slot over the glove of Tirone for Gaudette's fifth of the season.

• NU went up by two with a goal from Griffin only 29 seconds following the Gaudette goal off another precision passing clinic from the Griffin-Collier-Kurker line. After Collier received a pass from Kurker near the right face-off dot, Collier quickly settled the puck before threading a pass into a dangerous area to Griffin for the easy tap-in and Griffin's third of the season.

• Kurker buried his second of the evening with a shorthanded tally with 3:34 remaining in the period to give NU a 4-1 edge. After a big save from Ruck, the rebound popped out to Garret Cockerill, and he was able to clear the puck into the neutral zone. Kurker did the rest from there, collecting the loose puck, flying down the ice and roofing a backhander over Tirone's glove.

• New Hampshire, however, brought the game back to one during the same power play as Marcus Vela netted his third goal of the weekend, taking a pass from Michael McNicolas on the left side and sending it past Ruck.

• Sikura would put Northeastern back up by three with 2:14 to play in the second period when he notched his third of the weekend and fifth of the season. After Mike McMurtry won a puck battle along the wall and dished to Adam Gaudette, Gaudette spotted Sikura at the far post and hit him with a pass that beat Tirone for the score.

• Northeastern extended the lead to four midway through the period when Jamieson potted his first collegiate tally, redirecting a shot from Colton Saucerman at the point past Tirone to make it 6-2.

Stats of the game:
• Northeastern is now 61-96-15 all-time against New Hampshire, and collects its first regular season victory at the Whittemore Center since Nov. 16, 2007.

• Dating back to last season, NU has defeated the Wildcats in three straight games. It's the first time that's happened since 1989. It's also the first time Northeastern has defeated UNH on consecutive days since Feb. 27-28, 1998.

• Northeastern is 5-0-1 in its last six games, which is tied for the second longest active unbeaten streak in the nation. NU is also 6-1-2 in its last nine games.

• After conceding the first goal in 13 of the team's first 16 games, going 3-12-1 in the process, Northeastern has scored the first goal in six of the last seven games, going 5-1-1 in that span.

• Kurker had a season-high four points on the night (two goals, two assists), and is the second Husky to log four points in a game (Mike McMurtry vs. Colgate; Nov. 28).

• McMurtry extended his point streak to a career-long seven games (two goals, eight assists), while Gaudette also extended his point streak to five games (two goals, seven assists).

• Ruck tied a season-high with 30 saves on the night. He is 5-0-1 in his last six games with a 1.64 goals against average and .917 save percentage in that span.

The road ahead:
• Northeastern will continue Hockey East play next weekend as the Huskies battle Merrimack in a home-and-home series, beginning on Friday night at Lawler Arena.
