ResultsCAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After two days at the Harvard Multi-Meet (Jan. 15-16), the Northeastern men's and women's indoor track and field programs opened 2016 with five first-place finishes, five Northeastern all-time bests and more than 30 season bests.
Of the nine Huskies that competed at the Gordon Indoor Track,
Kelsey Sullivan and
Nick Fofana earned the best scores for NU with 3,654 points and 4,889 points, respectively, both slated at second.
All-time highlights• Sullivan's 3,654 points tabbed her No. 2 on Northeastern's all-time indoor performance list in the pentathlon.
• Betsy Garnick landed No. 6 on the all-time indoor performance list in the pentathlon with 3,414 points.
• Matthew Richards (4,547),
Kurt Robakiewicz (4,323) and
Matthew Ferri's (4,302) scores put them on the Huskies' all-time indoor performance list in the heptathlon at No. 5, 8, and 9, respectively.
Season best highlights• Sullivan registered a team season best in the high jump with 1.67m after tying for second with Carly Paul from Brown and Allison Frantz from Dartmouth on Friday.
• Fofana leads the Huskies in the pole vault after finishing with 3.66m, tying for second in the meet with John Braga of Merrimack.
To note• Northeastern earned 12 top-three marks (six men, six women) and 19 top-five stands (11 men, eight women).
• Fofana was shy 313 points from breaking NU's all-time record in the heptathlon of 5,201 points, set by Stefano Combi in the 2011-12 season. Fofana still holds a spot on the all-time list at No. 3 with 5,086 points, set during the 2015 IC4A Championships.
