BOSTON – T.J. Williams and Alex Murphy combined for 50 points as the Huskies rolled over Boston University 87-77 Friday night in front of a crowd of 2,287 at Matthews Arena.
 
Williams tallied a career-best 30 points, marking the first 30-point game of his career and becoming the first Husky to notch 30 in regulation since David Walker had 32 against Towson on Jan. 23, 2016. Williams also added eight assists, tying his career-high, and four rebounds on the night.
 
His 30 points were the most in a Northeastern season opener since Reggie Lewis had 32 against No. 2 Louisville in an 88-84 victory at the Great Alaska Shootout on Nov. 28, 1986.
 
In his first game in the red and black, Murphy notched a career-best 20 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc, while also dishing out four assists and hauling in four rebounds. The four assists marked the first multi-assist outing of Murphy's career, while his three treys were also a career best.
 
Donnell Gresham added 12 for Northeastern, going 2-for-2 from behind the arc and most importantly 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.
 
Also making their Northeastern debuts were Maxime Boursiquot, Bolden Brace and Shawn Occeus who combined for 16 points in the win.
 
The Terriers were led by Eric Fanning who had 29 points on the night, as well as seven rebounds and four assists.
 
Gresham started things off with a three, as the Huskies recorded seven treys in just the first half as Murphy, Occeus, Williams, Brace, Boursiquot and Gresham got in on the action.
 
After jumping out to an 11-5 lead behind three treys and five points by freshman Shawn Occeus, BU closed the gap to one at 11-10 with 15 minutes left to play.
 
With just a two-point lead at 15-13, the Huskies went on a 10-2 run over a 3 minute and 50 second span to gain a 10-point lead over the Terriers, capped by a T.J. Williams slam that forced Boston University to call its first timeout of the game.
 
Following the break, the Huskies expanded their lead to 16 on a Donnell Gresham three, his second of the half, eventually making it an 18-point game right before the half, before the Terriers cut it to 16 with a last second bucket before the intermission.
 
Coming out of the half, the Terriers worked the lead down to 12 points and eventually made it just a five-point game on a Cheddi Mosely layup with 11:14 remaining in the second frame.
 
A Murphy free throw, followed by a Gresham free throw after a Terrier technical for delay of game, gave the Huskies an eight-point lead, and Murphy followed up with a lay-up to regain a double-digit advantage over the Terriers.
 
Murphy added a highlight dunk while the duo combined for 21 of 24 points down the stretch to help the Huskies to victory.
 
Northeastern will be back in action with their second game of the season when they head to No. 18/16 Connecticut on Monday, Nov. 14. The 7 p.m. contest will be aired live on SNY.
