BOSTON  – Despite trailing for nearly 90 percent of the game, LIU Brooklyn went on a 20-12 scoring run in the final eight minutes to hand the Northeastern men's basketball team a 78-74 loss Saturday night.

LIU Brooklyn (3-0) freshman guard Jashaun Agosto shot four of six from beyond the arc and torched the Huskies for 20 points, including 18 second half points.

T.J. Williams led Northeastern (2-2) in scoring for the fourth-straight game, totaling 18 points, including a 12-for-14 performance from the free throw line. Alex Murphy tallied 13 points and eight rebounds while Shawn Occeus also enjoyed a standout performance for NU, earning a career-high 14 points, his first double-digit effort of his young career.

The Huskies put up a strong first-half performance, outscoring LIU Brooklyn 40-30. After falling behind by four right off the bat, NU went on a dominant 18-5 scoring rampage.

Jeremy Miller was crucial in that first-half scoring run, displaying an impressive sequence with a put-back off a shot attempt by Murphy, then a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession. He followed it up with a steal and another 3-pointer just a few possessions later.

LIU Brooklyn was able to cut into the Huskies' nine-point lead, however, chipping away with a few field goals of its own. Bolden Brace was able to stop the Blackbirds' scoring run as he drove into a crowd of defenders and sent a perfect pass out of traffic and into Murphy's waiting hands, who nailed a 3-pointer.

LIU Brooklyn continued to close in, but the Huskies displayed three-straight dominant offensive possessions to maintain the lead, thanks to a fast break layup by Williams, a 3-pointer by Occeus, and a put-back by Murphy to extend the Huskies' lead to eight, 33-24.

LIU Brooklyn came out of the gates strong in the second half, led by Agosto, who nailed four 3-pointers in the first six minutes of the half to help tie up the game. The Huskies remained focused, however, and a 3-pointer by Jimmy Marshall helped Northeastern regain momentum.

The Huskies struggled to hit a field goal after that, but were still able to add to their point total, earning 19 points off free throws in the stanza, including 13-straight over a nine-and-a-half-minute span.

The game got chippy with just over seven minutes left, and a technical foul was assessed on LIU Brooklyn's Julius van Sauers, sending Northeastern to the line for more free throws.

LIU Brooklyn took its first lead of the game, since early in the first half, off of back-to-back 3-pointers, the go-ahead by Jerome Frink, then extended that lead to five after an and-1. The teams traded free throws after that, but LIU Brooklyn held on to win, 78-74.

The Huskies will round out their weekend at the Steve Wright Classic at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon when they face Maine at Case Gymnasium.
