BOSTON – David Walker tied the school record for single-season 3-pointers, Quincy Ford crossed the 1,500-point mark and the Northeastern men's basketball team ground out a 70-60, wire-to-wire victory over Drexel Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

Walker finished the game with 21 points, the 11th time he has tallied 20+ points this season. Those 21 points were via 6-for-8 shooting, including 5-of-6 from deep. His five 3-pointers gave him 83 for the season, tying the school record for treys in a single season set by Joel Smith in 2012-13. Smith achieved the feat in 31 games, Walker 27.

With a three in the first half, Ford notched his 1,498, 1,499 and 1,500th career points in a Husky uniform, marking the second straight game a Husky has crossed the 1,500 mark. Ford finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists on the day.

Northeastern improved to 14-13 with the win and is now 6-8 in conference play while Drexel falls to 3-22 on the year and 1-13 in CAA action.

Northeastern used its 3-point shooting prowess to take a 15-point halftime lead. The Huskies connected on 9-of-15 threes in the first half alone, as Walker went 4-for-4 from behind the arc.

A 10-0 run in the first half, via back-to-back treys by Walker and Ford, and back-to-back layups by Zach Stahl gave the Huskies a 13-point advantage early on. The Huskies maintained that lead for the remainder of the first half and extended it to 15 on a 3-pointer by Ford with 44 seconds left in action.

The Huskies held the Dragons to just 24 first half points while shooting 60.9 percent from the field, and 60 percent from behind the arc.

In the second half, the Huskies built up their lead to a game-high 19 early on as Walker tallied the first five points of the second half. His three at 18:49 was his school record tying 83rd of the season. But Drexel was able to chip away slowly, first making it a 14-point ball game on a three by Sammy Mojica, and then cutting that lead to 10 on a Tavon Allen jumper.

Northeastern's lead hovered between eight and 10 for the rest of the ball game, as Drexel matched the Huskies first half shooting percentage in the second half, but the Huskies hung on and finished with the double-digit victory.

Northeastern will be back in action on Thursday in the first game of a two-game road swing that will bring the Huskies to Harrisonburg, Va. followed by Hempstead, N.Y. The Huskies start the week off at James Madison on Thursday night at 7 p.m. and will play in a nationally televised game at Hofstra Sunday at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
