Postgame NotesPHILADELPHIA – The Northeastern men's basketball team used a 15-0 second half run to overcome a seven-point halftime deficit en route to a nail biting, 61-59 victory over Drexel Saturday afternoon.

With the win, and a Charleston loss, the Huskies have locked up the No. 6 seed in the CAA and will take to the court for the first time on Saturday afternoon against Towson.

Towson, James Madison, and William & Mary all finished in a three-way tie for third place, but the Tigers earn the three seed based on a 3-1 record against JMU and William & Mary during the regular season.

David Walker drained three treys during the Huskies 15-0 run, including back-to-back threes that forced Drexel to call a timeout as the Huskies gained a 53-49 lead.

Walker finished the game with 20 points, his 12
th 20-point effort of the season while
Zach Stahl chipped in 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the victory.

Tavon Allen led Drexel with a game-high 27 points, 23 of which came in the first half. Allen was just 2-of-10 in the second half, including a tough 3-point miss with time expiring.

Tavon Allen went 9-of-13 from the field including 5-of-8 from behind the arc in the first half alone helping Drexel to a 34-27 halftime lead.

After Drexel got on the board first,
Quincy Ford and
Caleb Donnelly teamed up for a pair of threes to take a 6-2 lead. The Huskies held on to that lead until 5:49 left in the first half when Rashann London tied the game on a trey.

Miller responded with a hook shot, but Allen registered back-to-back buckets to take a three-point lead.

Allen's two shots were followed up by two slams, and and-one opportunities by
Kwesi Abakah, however Abakah could not convert on the free throw attempts.

An Allen trey was followed by a
Zach Stahl layup, but the Dragons notched the last two shots of the half, a Kazembe Abif layup followed by another Allen trey to head to the locker room with a seven-point lead.

Northeastern came out of the locker room at halftime firing and used an 8-0 run to make it a one-point game with 15:11 left in the half. Drexel matched the Huskies run with an 11-1 run of its own, taking an 11-point lead with 9:19 left in the ball game.

But the Huskies used their 15-point run, jump started by a
Quincy Ford free throw to take a four-point lead with just over three minutes left in the game, holding Drexel scoreless for over six and a half minutes of action.

Drexel closed the gap and managed to tie the game and take a one-point lead with 41 seconds left, but the Huskies called a timeout and
Zach Stahl converted on a layup off of a beautiful pass from
Caleb Donnelly under the net to put the Huskies back up on top.

The Northeastern defense forced two Drexel misses on the ensuing possession and Ford sank a free throw to make it a two-point game as Northeastern walked away with the victory.

The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, March 5 in the quarterfinal round of the CAA Tournament where they will face off against Towson. Â

- The Huskies have now won their third straight game over Drexel
- The win is the first for Northeastern in Philadelphia since a 63-58 victory over Drexel on Jan. 8, 2013
- The Huskies swept Drexel for the first time since the 2012-13 season
- Northeastern has now finished .500 or better in the CAA for the second straight season
- David Walker now has 92 3-point field goals this season, the 13th player in the nation to cross the 90 3FG line this season
