BOSTON – The No. 14/14 Northeastern men's hockey team used goals from five different scorers and points from 11 skaters to power its way past the No. 5/4 Boston College Eagles, 5-4, and punch its ticket to the championship game of the 32nd annual Hockey East Tournament. It will be the Huskies' first appearance in the title game since 1988 and only its second all-time.

After falling behind 1-0 just 15 seconds into the game, Northeastern rallied to go into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead and never looked back, scoring five of the game's final eight goals. The Huskies used two power play goals and a 2-for-3 showing on the penalty kill to propel them to victory.

Adam Gaudette and Zach Aston-Reese led the way for the Huskies with a goal and an assist apiece, while Nolan Stevens, Eric Williams and Lincoln Griffin added tallies of their own. Ryan Ruck backstopped Northeastern with 21 saves.

Thatcher Demko kept BC in the game with 27 saves, including three highlight reel stops that kept the game to a one-goal deficit. Miles Wood scored a pair of goals, and Steve Santini added two assists.

The Huskies go into the championship game on a program-best 13-game unbeaten streak and 12-game winning streak, which is tied for the best streak in team history (1980-81). Northeastern is 19-1-2 in its last 22 games, the best record in Division I during that span.

Goal descriptions:
· BC's Miles Wood opened the game's scoring just 15 seconds in on the first shot of the game. After Steve Santini cleared the puck out of the defensive zone, Wood took a pass from Christopher Brown at the Northeastern blue line and beat Ruck with a wrist shot between the legs. It was the second-fastest opening goal in Hockey East Tournament history.

· Zach Aston-Reese tied the game with 5:52 remaining in the opening frame off a neutral zone pass from Nolan Stevens. Aston-Reese stickhandled through a BC defender and tucked a shot under Demko's pads for his 13th goal of the season.

· Northeastern beat the buzzer in the first period to take a 2-1 lead. With just 0.9 seconds left on the clock, Adam Gaudette finished off a tic-tac-toe play from Mike McMurtry and Dylan Sikura with a tap-in past Demko on the back door.

· Colin White tied it at 2 just 1:10 into the second period when he took a pass from Matthew Gaudreau from behind the net and beat Ruck over the glove with a wrist shot.

· Nolan Stevens gave the Huskies the lead back at 2:55 of the second period with a power play goal. After he took an entry pass from John Stevens at the blue line, Nolan deked past a BC defender and ripped a shot over Demko's blocker for his team-leading 18th goal.

· After a keep-in at the blue line by Sikura, Kevin Roy fed Eric Williams who blasted a slapshot over the glove of Demko to make it 4-2 at 10:55 of the second period, the Huskies' second power play goal of the night.

· Wood potted his second of the night on BC's first power play attempt with 6:06 remaining in the middle frame. He took a pack door pass from Ryan Fitzgerald and stuffed it between the legs of Ruck to make it 4-3.

· Lincoln Griffin extended Northeastern's lead to 5-3 halfway through the third period when he intercepted an errant pass in the BC zone and slipped a backhander past Demko.

· Alex Tuch brought the Eagles back to within one when he tucked the rebound of a Zach Sanford shot into the open net behind Ruck with 9:10 remaining in the final frame.

Stats of the game:
· With tonight's win, the Huskies have won their last 12 games, tied for a program record (1980-81). They are unbeaten (12-0-1) in their last 13 contests, the best stretch of any team in program history.

· Northeastern won its Hockey East semifinal game for the second time (1988) in team history and beat BC in the Hockey East Tournament for only the second time in the tournament's 32-year history.

• Friday marked the third time in Hockey East history that a No. 6 seed has reached the championship game. It was also just the second time in Hockey East history that a No. 6 seed defeated a No. 1 seed in the league tournament.

· The Huskies advance to their second-ever Hockey East Championship and their first since 1988, when they defeated Maine 4-3.

• NU is unbeaten in 21 of its last 22 games (19-1-2), the best stretch in team history.

• Northeastern won its 21st game of the season on Friday, tied for the third most in program history.

· The nine combined goals in tonight's game marked the most goals in a Hockey East semifinal game since BU defeated BC 6-3 in the 2013 semifinals.

• Ruck is 19-1-2 in his last 22 starts with a 1.84 goals against average and .927 save percentage. His .909 winning percentage in that span in tops in the country. His five wins this postseason are the most in Hockey East history.

• Roy's assist moved him into a tie for second in career Hockey East Tournament scoring among active players. He has seven goals and six assists in 10 career Hockey East postseason games played.

· Aston-Reese's first-period goal extended his point streak to seven games. He has three goals and nine assists in that span. His 13 goals this season match the career-high he set in 2014-15.

• Nolan Stevens has points in 11 of his last 12 games (eight goals, 11 assists). He is one point away from 40 this season, which would mark the first time since the 2001-02 season that Northeastern has had two players with at least 40 points in a season (Jim Fahey and Chris Lynch).

· With two power play goals tonight, Northeastern improved to 5-for-17 with the man advantage in the postseason.

• Williams' second period goal gave the Huskies 26 goals from defensemen this season, which is sixth in the nation.

· In the first semifinal, UMass Lowell outlasted Providence 2-1 in triple overtime. The contest, which lasted 112:27, was the ninth-longest game in NCAA D-I history and the second-longest game in Hockey East history. Opening puck drop for Northeastern and BC was delayed until 10:35 p.m.

The road ahead:
The Huskies return to TD Garden on Saturday, March 19, to face No. 8/8 UMass Lowell in the Hockey East Tournament championship game. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
