Men's All-Time Outdoor Performance List
STANFORD, Calif. – Men's track and field captain
Paul Duffey ran the men's 1500m in 3:45.79 at the Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 1, at the Cobb Track & Angell Field.
The junior is now slated at No. 6 on the Northeastern All-Time Outdoor Performance List, the first to crack 3:45 since 2013 (No. 5, Eric Jenkins) and third since 1981. Duffey was the sole Husky at the invitational – a meet that he had always wanted to compete in. He was one of 12 runners in the third heat and finished eighth on the day.
"We are exceptionally proud of Paul and how he represents and competes for the program. He is always willing to put the team first and do whatever the coaches ask of him and that is what made sending him to Stanford a no-brainer," said head coach and director
Cathrine Erickson. "He continues to work hard and earn every opportunity we put in front of him."
"The race was everything I was looking for. The rabbit did his job and paced it well," said Duffey. "It was a clean race for me because I stayed up front and didn't have to worry about any traffic. It was a good start to the season."
Duffey and the rest of the team will resume action next weekend at Massachusetts's Leap Year Invite, April 1-2, in Amherst, Massachusetts. A small group of Huskies will also compete at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Alabama the same weekend.
