* Game one of Saturday's doubleheader will be seven innings.

BOSTON – On Saturday, April 30, the Northeastern baseball program will welcome the members of its 1966 College World Series team back to Friedman Diamond as NU will celebrate their 50th anniversary season prior to its 11 a.m. doubleheader against Central Connecticut State. The 1966 Huskies, deemed by the NCAA as the "most surprising team in Northeastern's baseball history," will be formally honored during a special on-field ceremony beginning Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking at Friedman Diamond will open to the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Fans should note that parking is extremely limited at Friedman Diamond and are encouraged to seek parking at alternate locations.

THE 1966 NORTHEASTERN HUSKIES

Under the direction of the late head coach John "Tinker" Connelly (1956-81), for whom the Friedman Diamond home-plate pavilion is named, the 1966 Northeastern Huskies assembled the greatest postseason run in program history, advancing as far as the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The 1966 Huskies won a then-school record, 18 games, upsetting Boston College, 10-2, in the NCAA District I title game at Fenway Park to earn the right to compete among national powerhouses like Southern California, Texas, and Oklahoma State. To this day, the 1966 Northeastern squad remains the program's lone College World Series team.

On April 30, some members of the 1966 Huskies will be making their first trip back to Friedman Diamond since playing their final home game in an NU uniform.

NORTHEASTERN HOSTS CCSU

In addition to honoring the 1966 Northeastern baseball team, the 2016 Huskies will take its bye week from CAA play and host Central Connecticut State for three games between Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30. First pitch between the Huskies and the Blue Devils is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, while the official start time of Saturday's doubleheader is listed at 11 a.m.

ON THE MOUND FOR THE HUSKIES

Aaron Civale (6-2) looks to stay hot on the hill for Northeastern during Friday's 3 p.m. game. Civale leads the CAA in ERA (1.96), innings pitched (78.0), and strikeouts (78), and has thrown eight innings or more during five of his last six outings. During his last two starts, the junior has struck out 17 and allowed just two runs, only one of which was earned.

Dustin Hunt (4-3) is scheduled to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, which will be shortened to seven innings. Hunt ranks second behind Civale in strikeouts this year (66) but leads the league in batters struck out looking (28). The two NU aces both hold top-five positions in the CAA in the categories of ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched, and strikeouts.

James Mulry (2-6) will make his 10th start of the season during Saturday's game two. Mulry is two appearances removed from a commanding, seven-inning performance against Delaware on April 16, when he picked up his fourth quality start of 2016.

NOW BATTING FOR NORTHEASTERN

Freshman outfielder Cam Walsh enters the weekend with the Huskies' best batting average at .310 and is one of three NU players to sport an on-base percentage over .400 (Keith Kelly, Pat Madigan). Kelly leads Northeastern with 42 hits this season, including nine extra-base knocks, and is hitting .288. He and shortstop Max Burt have started every game for the Huskies this season at second base and shortstop, respectively.

Catcher Josh Treff continues to pound the ball for Northeastern. Of Treff's 24 hits this year, 14 have landed for extra bases, including a team high, 10 doubles. Treff's 19 RBIs this season are second most on the team behind Madigan's 21.
