The clinic is open to any and all males of all skill levels entering grades 9-12 in fall 2016. The one-day event is designed to give high school athletes the opportunity to visit Northeastern University, meet with members of the coaching staff, and compete against other athletes. The clinic offers professional instruction, personal attention, and an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Coen has been at the helm of the Northeastern men's basketball team for the past 10 seasons and both he and his staff have developed Northeastern into one of the most consistent programs in the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Huskies earned its first CAA tournament title in 2015 and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 seasons. Northeastern has also captured the CAA regular-season title in 2012-13 and 2014-15 and has reached the CAA Tournament semifinal in the last four seasons. Last season, the Huskies handed NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant and then-No. 15 Miami its ONLY home loss of the 2015-16 season on a buzzer beating shot.
In addition to team success, the Northeastern staff has an impressive record of developing players for the professional ranks. In his 10 seasons at Northeastern, Coen has mentored 13 players who have signed professional basketball contracts, including both members of the 2015 and 2013 classes graduates
Scott Eatherton and
Reggie Spencer and Jonathan Lee and Joel Smith, and two-time All-CAA First Team selections Matt Janning and Chaisson Allen.
The cost for the college prospect clinic is $40, and includes skill development, personalized instruction, college admissions and eligibility center information session, facility and campus tours, and a Northeastern basketball t-shirt.
