Ford, Walker Sign with NBA Teams

Ford will join the Utah Jazz, while Walker will add to the Miami Heat depth chart

BOSTON – Two members of the Northeastern men's basketball senior class will continue their playing careers at the professional level as Quincy Ford and David Walker have earned a spot in the NBA ranks.

Ford will join the Utah Jazz in the Utah Summer League from July 4-7 after inking a three-year partially guaranteed contract as an undrafted free agent. Walker will take part in the Orlando Pro Summer League from July 2-8 with the Miami Heat and then will join Ford in Sin City for the NBA Summer League from July 8-18.

The duo becomes the first set of Northeastern players to take part in NBA team activity since Matt Janning worked out with the Denver Nuggets last summer. Janning initially signed with the Phoenix Suns after graduating from Northeastern in 2010.

Ford and Walker become the first Northeastern teammates to move on to the NBA since the trio of Reggie Lewis, Andre LaFleur and Gerry Corcoran did so in 1987 and they become the 14th and 15th athletes under the direction of Bill Coen to ink professional contracts.

Earlier this season, Walker became the 11th ever Husky to earn NABC first team honors while he and Ford were the 28th and 29th Huskies to earn All-District Honors and the 10th and 11th under Coen.

Walker was also named First Team All-CAA while Quincy Ford earned All-CAA Second Team honors.

A four-time CAA Player of the Week honoree, Ford finished his senior season averaging 16.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

In a triple overtime game vs. James Madison, Ford recorded the highest point total of any CAA player in the 2015-16 season with a 36-point effort against the Dukes, the most points by a Husky player in CAA history and the highest point total in Northeastern history in nearly 11 seasons since J.J. Barea dropped 41 against Stony Brook on March 5, 2005.

In conference action, Ford finished averaging 16.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Despite missing four games during conference play, Ford's 16.1 points per game ranked eighth in the CAA during conference play while his 7.1 rebounds per game ranked seventh.

Walker finished up his senior campaign averaging a league-leading 17.9 points per game to go along with 3.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He became the first Northeastern player to finish as the CAA scoring champion and the first Northeastern scoring champion since Jose Juan Barea paced the America East Conference with 21.0 points per game in the 2005-06 season.

The Stow, Ohio native finished the CAA season averaging 16.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Walker's points per game were fifth most in CAA action while 22.2 percent of his points came from the charity stripe where he shot 88.3 percent on the season to lead the conference.

Nearly half of all of his points came from behind the arc as he connected on a school record setting 97 treys on the season, shooting a .413 clip from deep. Walker also added 47 steals and 12 blocks on the season.

Walker averaged 38.3 minutes per game, playing in a school record 1,263 minutes on the year. He finished the regular season leading the country in minutes played.

Ford and Walker finished their careers in the top-10 on the Northeastern scoring charts. Walker finished his career in eighth place all-time with 1,631 career points while Ford finished in a tie for ninth with 1,617 career points while on Huntington Ave.
