BROOKLINE, Mass. – Boston College (7-0-1) scored the game-tying goal with four seconds left in regulation and then netted the winner 1:14 into double overtime to hand the Northeastern women's soccer team (3-4-1) a heartbreaking 2-1 loss on Sunday before a crowd of 512 at Parsons Field.
Senior
Breeana Koemans gave NU the lead with a penalty kick goal in the 63rd minute after sophomore
Hannah Rosenblatt was tripped up in the box.
The advantage held until the final seconds when BC's Lauren Berman whipped in a high cross from the left wing that deflected off Andrea O'Brien and into the back of the net to force overtime.
Northeastern had two glorious chances to win the match in the first overtime period, but BC keeper Alexis Bryant made an incredible double-save to deny
Kayla Cappuzzo on a breakaway and then Rosenblatt on the rebound to keep the match even.
The Eagles then wasted little time getting the game-winner as McKenzie Meehan headed home a Jenna Bike free kick just over a minute into the second extra-time stanza.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Nathalie Nidetch made eight saves, including a diving catch on a Hayley Dowd free kick in the waning minutes of regulation, and a kick save on a Dowd breakaway minutes later.
