BOSTON – Eager to claim another three points in league play on its home pitch, the Northeastern men's soccer team will welcome Hofstra, the defending CAA titleholder, to Parsons Field on Wednesday, Sept. 28, for a 6:05 p.m. conference kickoff. The match will be aired live on the American Sports Network.

PROMOTIONS

Wednesday night's men's soccer match will be the fourth of six promoted Northeastern men's and women's soccer rewards card matches at Parsons Field this season. Students that collect a third punch on their rewards card upon entering Parsons Field will receive the official 2016 Northeastern soccer scarf (please see scarf rewards).

Free student shuttles to Parsons Field will depart from Chicken Lou's beginning at 5 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes until kickoff (6 p.m.).

SCOUTING HOFSTRA

Hofstra (4-3-1, 2-0-0 CAA), the defending CAA champion, has opened the 2016 conference season with a pair of convincing league wins against James Madison (W, 2-0) and College of Charleston (W, 4-0). The Pride are the lone remaining CAA team yet to concede a goal during conference play, while their trio of goalkeepers have faced only two shots on goal during the last 225 minutes. Clean sheets are all too common when Hofstra takes the pitch; the Pride have posted four shutouts this season, but have also been shut out four times.

Danny Elliott leads Hofstra this season with eight points (four goals), two more than returning CAA Player of the Year, Joseph Holland, has through eight matches (two goals, two assists). Elliott and Holland both pace the Pride in shots with 25 and 22, respectively, while the Pride average 13.8 attempts per match. Leonard Arkhanhelskyi owns the most goalkeeping minutes for Hofstra (480) in addition to a 0.75 goals against average and .714 save percentage.

LAST MEETING

Northeastern gave No. 22 Hofstra a run for its money on Oct. 14, 2015, at Hofstra Soccer Stadium, forcing the match into extra time but conceding the game-winner to the Pride in double overtime during the 107th minute. The Huskies had fallen behind, 1-0, during the 34th minute, but found the equalizer when Christian McKenna polished off a cross from Khesanio Hall during the 54th minute. NU slugged out 15 shots, two fewer than Hofstra's 17, but led the Pride in shots on goal, 8-6.

AGAINST THE RPI TOP 50

Considering the Sept. 26 RPI rankings, Hofstra will be the Huskies' third of four consecutive opponents ranked in the top 50. Northeastern ran into the two previous teams of the four during week five, suffering defeats against New Hampshire (No. 45) and Delaware (No. 43) by respective scores of 3-0 and 4-0. The Pride will be the only opponent during this stretch of four games that NU will play at home, as the Huskies will travel to William & Mary (No. 30) next on Oct. 1.
