BOSTON – Stepping away from Cabot Center for the weekend, the Northeastern women's basketball team will begin a two-game road trip to the state of Virginia on Friday, Jan. 13, when NU visits William & Mary for a primetime, 7 p.m. tipoff. The Huskies are one of four 2-1 teams tied for second in the early CAA standings and enter Friday night's contest as winners of four of their last five games.

ALL-TIME AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY

Northeastern and William & Mary have only opposed each other as members of the CAA. Since the 2005-06 season, the Huskies are 9-8 against the Tribe, but are only 3-6 when playing William & Mary at Kaplan Arena. Dating back to the 2012-13 season, the home team has won seven of the last eight meetings.

HUSKIES ON THE ROAD

NU is 3-3 this season in true road games and has won two straight, including the Huskies' 53-51, overtime victory at Hofstra on Jan. 2 to open the CAA season. Northeastern routed Canisius, 83-59, on the road during the first Sunday of the 2016-17 campaign (Nov. 13) and more recently defeated Denver, 72-69, in the Mountain time zone on Dec. 20. The Huskies also made a neutral-site appearance at the 2016 Cancun Challenge during Thanksgiving weekend, where NU was unable to prevail against No. 11/11 Stanford, Purdue, and Wichita State.

TRIBE AT HOME

William & Mary's six victories this year at Kaplan Arena are tied with Drexel and Towson for the most in the CAA through Jan. 12. Since beginning the 2016-17 season with a 73-57 home loss against St. John's, the Tribe have won six in a row in Williamsburg an all by margins of 10 points or more. With winter weather postponing William & Mary's Jan. 8 league contest against Hofstra, the Tribe's two-game home stand has been reduced to one.

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY

• Prior to William & Mary's loss to College of Charleston on Jan. 6, the Tribe held an 11-game winning streak – the longest among CAA teams this season.
• William & Mary (11-2, 1-1 CAA) picked off Delaware on the road, 60-49, to begin its CAA slate 1-0.
• Last season, the Tribe finished seventh in the conference with a 15-15 (6-12 CAA) record. No. 7 William & Mary exited the CAA tournament in the first round with a 71-65 loss against No. 10 Towson.
• On CAA Media Day (Oct. 25), William & Mary tied James Madison for the most Preseason All-CAA honorees (three): senior forward Alexandra Masaquel, senior guard Marlena Tremba, and junior center Abby Rendle.
• As of Jan. 12, the Tribe have two players ranked among the top 12 scorers in the conference: Marlena Tremba (14.3 points per game, seventh), and Alexandra Masaquel (12.2, 12th). Masaquel also ranks seventh in the league in rebounding (7.8 per game) and third in field goal percentage (49.3 percent).

GO, DOG. GO!

Since Feb. 5, 2016, the Huskies have fared particularly well against the CAA, winning nine of their last 12 regular-season conference games. Including the postseason, Northeastern is 10-4 during its last 14 competitions. During that stretch, the Huskies have sported victories against six different CAA foes (all except James Madison, Drexel, and William & Mary).

HUSKIES EARN FANS' VOTE

Northeastern won each of the first two CAA Top Performer of the Day fan polls that were hosted by @CAABasketball, the official Twitter account of CAA hoops. Francesca Sally received 42 percent of the Jan. 2 vote following her 23-point, six-rebound, and 41-minute outing against Hofstra, narrowly defeating James Madison's Amber Porter (37 percent) for the crown. Advancing to Jan. 6, the Huskies' Claudia Ortiz became the second straight NU player to be chosen as CAA Top Performer of the Day, taking home 43 percent of the vote courtesy of her 27-point, 11-rebound night against Towson.

UP NEXT

Northeastern will head from eastern Virginia to the western side of the state to meet up with James Madison on Sunday, Jan. 15, for a 2 p.m. game at the Dukes' Convocation Center. Last January in Harrisonburg, the Huskies held a four-point halftime lead against the eventual league champions.
