Season Statistics
ORONO, Maine – The Northeastern women's hockey team (13-9-3, 9-7-2 WHEA) scored three power-play goals in the third period, but could not overcome a three-goal deficit as Maine (8-14-1, 4-10-1 WHEA) skated to a 6-3 victory over the Huskies on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
The Huskies trailed 4-1 midway through the third, before two
Denisa Krizova goals in a span of 12 seconds cut the deficit to 4-3. Northeastern would get no closer, however, as Maine scored the final two goals, including an empty-netter in the final minute, to earn the weekend sweep.
Sophomore
Kasidy Anderson also scored for the Huskies, while senior
Sarah Foss made 19 saves in net.
Goal Recaps
• Maine got on the board first at 13:35 of the first period when Jessica Vallotton wristed a shot home from center ice.
• The Black Bears doubled the advantage with 25 seconds to play in the opening frame when Brooke Stacey snuck a shot inside the left post from a tough angle at the left of the cage.
• Maine added to its lead at 7:19 of the second period when Catherine Tufts found Tereza Vanisova open in the slot for a wrister over the glove of Foss to make it 3-0.
• Northeastern responded at 1:12 of the third period on a power-play goal by Anderson. After a wrap-around attempt by junior
Halle Silva was stopped, the puck trickled into space in the crease and Anderson hammered it home to make it 3-1.
• Maine answered two minutes later to push the lead back to three when Alyson Matteau went coast-to-coast, before tucking the puck by Foss at 3:10 of the final frame.
• Krizova scored two extra-attacker, power-play goals in a span of 12 seconds at 10:23 and 10:35 to make it 4-3. The first goal came on a rebound at the right of the cage following a shot by freshman
Matti Hartman, and the second came on a slapshot from the left circle.
• Maine had the final say, however, as Matteau sprung Catherine Tufts for a breakaway goal to make it 5-3 at 16:20, before Emilie Brigham tacked on an empty-netter at 19:09 to round out the scoring.

• Northeastern scored three power-play goals, all in the third period, and went 3-for-5 on the PP overall.
• The Huskies scored on the power play for the fifth straight game.
• NU blocked 19 shots, including three blocks each from
