CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Behind two more school records from
Paige Suse and
Kyle Darrow, the Northeastern men's and women's track and field team finished seventh at the Harvard Multi-Meet and Battle in Beantown on Friday and Saturday.
Suse raised the bar on her high jump record from earlier this season to 1.78m while Darrow claimed sole ownership of the 60m dash record with a run of 6.81 seconds.
The Huskies posted 30 personal bests, six NU top 10 marks, 23 New England qualifying marks and 15 ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks over the two-day stretch.
For the women,
Jessica Scott placed third overall in the 60m dash clocking 7.63 in the finals.
Brooke Wojeski ran 5:05.53 in the one-mile, just three seconds off the top spot and good for fourth overall.
Danae Bucci helped Northeastern to the top two spots in the high jump, hitting a mark of 1.70m behind Suse's record performance. The Huskies continued their dominance in the throws, placing two in the top 10 in shot put (Leyann Redwood and
Monae Cooper) and three in the top10 in the weight throw (
Lauren Swanson,
Erica Belvit,
Monae Cooper). Additionally,
Betsy Garnick earned first place in two events of the women's pentathlon. Garnick clocked 8.81 in the 60m hurdles and jumped 5.56m in the long jump.
On the men's side, Darrow's 6.81 record setting run earned him first overall in the 60m dash. Also taking first was
Chris Jewett, who won the 200m dash in 22.45. The team of
Austin Lin,
David Johnston,
Lucas Holt and
Chris Jewett grabbed second overall in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21.11. In the men's heptathlon,
Nick Fofana placed in the top three in five events. Fofana earned the top spot in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.51 and the shot put with a throw of 13.54m.
Next up, the Huskies are set to host the Joe Donahue Invite on Friday, Jan. 20.
