Huskies begin three-game home stand with Delaware

Northeastern is riding a five-game win streak, the longest in the CAA, into Matthews Arena for a three game homestand

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team heads into its three-game homestand at Matthews Arena Thursday night, on a five-game win streak.
 
The Huskies will kick off their longest homestand of the season, after playing just two non-conference home games, against Delaware Thursday night at 7 p.m.
 
The Huskies have won five-straight games heading into Thursday's meeting with Delaware earning wins at Vermont, Michigan State, Oakland, in the CAA opener against William & Mary, blowing out the Tribe, and in their first CAA road game of the year at Drexel.

QUICK HITS
• This is the 97th season of Northeastern men's basketball. Northeastern has an all-time record of 1,181-1,090 (.520) in 2,271 games
• The Huskies are 373-253 (.596) all-time in conference play including a 103-78 (.569) record since joining the CAA in the 2006-07 season
• The Huskies have amassed 12 regular season conference championships and eight tournament titles including a 2015 title which sent the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 years
• The Huskies and Delaware will meet for the 51st time in program history, and though Delaware holds a 27-23 series lead, the Huskies have won three straight over the Blue Hens entering Thursday night's game
• The Huskies enter Thursday's game on a five-game win streak after notching victories at Vermont (59-57), Michigan State (81-73), Oakland (61-59), an 84-64 win over William & Mary in the conference opener and a 75-70 overtime road victory over Drexel Monday
• With a win, Northeastern will extend its win-streak to six games
• A Huskies win means a 3-0 start to the conference season for the second straight season
• Northeastern's five losses have come by a combined 17 points this season with its first four losses coming within four-points or fewer
• Following his 24-point performance against Drexel, T.J. Williams has now notched at least 20 points in nine of 14 games this season and is averaging a CAA leading 21.3 ppg (28th nationally) to go along with 5.7 assists per game, 2nd in the CAA and 32nd nationally
• Williams is one of just four players nationally to have tallied at least 16 points in every game they have played in this season
• Thursday's game will be the 200th CAA game the Huskies have played in (regular season and conference tournament) since joining the league in the 2006-07 season
 
THREE-GAME HOMESTAND
• Northeastern will return home for the longest homestand of the season
• After playing just two games at home during the non-conference slate, the Huskies are home for three-straight beginning with Delaware (Jan. 5)
• The homestand continues against James Madison (Jan. 7) and will round out with the 2016-17 series finale against Drexel (Jan. 12)
• The Huskies are 3-0 at home this season, notching two of their biggest wins of the year (87-77 vs. BU; 84-64 vs. W&M) while also completing the largest comeback win of the year, after being down 17 at the half to Kent State (Nov. 27)
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS
• Delaware is off to a 7-8 record on the season under first year head coach Martin Ingelsby, however they are 0-2 to begin the conference season after falling to Hofstra and College of Charleston
• The Blue Hens are 2-4 on the season on the road this year with their wins coming over Bradley and Miami (OH)
• Delaware enters Thursday's game with the Huskies on a two-game losing streak
 
LEADING THE WAY
• Delaware is led by Ryan Daly who is averaging 13.1 points and 7.1 rebounds a game while adding 10 steals on the season
• Anthony Mosley has dished out 42 assists on the season, while also adding 25 steals
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
• This will be the 51st meeting between the two teams with the Blue Hens holding the series lead 27-23
• However, NU heads into Monday's game on a three-game winstreak over Delaware
 
LAST TIME VS. DELAWARE
• Behind 24 points from David Walker and 18 from Quincy Ford, Northeastern earned a hard-fought, 69-60, comeback victory at Delaware
• With the win, Northeastern snapped a two-game skid and completed the season sweep of Delaware, winning its third-straight game over the Blue Hens.
• Head Coach Bill Coen now has the most conference victories by a Northeastern head coach (96) besting Jim Calhoun (95) with Saturday's victory.
• Walker finished the game with 24 points, behind five 3-pointers, four rebounds three assists and three steals. Ford tallied 18 points and eight rebounds on the day, while Zach Stahl was a point away from a double-double finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds on the day.
• Marvin King-Davis earned his ninth double-double of the season with 23 points and 15 rebounds for Delaware
 
THIS WEEK IN NU BASKETBALL
• After a 10-day break, the Huskies came out firing with their largest victory ever over William & Mary on Saturday afternoon
• Northeastern won its fourth-straight game with an 84-64 win over the Tribe and captured its fourth straight conference opening win with the victory
• The Huskies shot 62.5 percent from the field in the first half of play, finishing with a 57.1 shooting percentage at the end of the game as four different Huskies tallied double-digit scoring efforts
• Northeastern was led by Alex Murphy who netted a career-high tying 24 points while Devon Begley needed a career-best 21 points as well as seven rebounds and five assists, for his first career 20-point effort
• T.J. Williams added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists and in his first career start, Anthony Green had a career-high 13 points and nine rebounds while making a career-best two steals
• The Huskies added to that win streak on Monday afternoon with a hard-fought road win at Drexel
• In their first overtime game of the season, Northeastern erased a nine-point, second-half deficit to force overtime behind a clutch 3-pointer by Bolden Brace with just over 30 seconds remaining
• The Huskies gained a five-point edge in the OT period starting things off with a dunk by Murphy followed by a Williams three-point play
• Brace went 4-of-4 from the line down the stretch n the OT stanza to solidify the Huskies' 75-70 victory
 
IN GOOD COMPANY
• In each game this season, senior T.J. Williams has notched at least 16 points en route to his 21.3 points per game average
• Williams is one of just four people in the country to have achieved that feat this season
