Box Score
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- In a tightly contested affair with the CAA's top team, the Northeastern women's soccer team (9-5-2, 3-1-2) came a goal short as the Hofstra Pride (11-3-2, 7-0-0) emerged with a 1-0 victory on a chilly Thursday evening at Parsons Field.
The Huskies were limited to six shots on goal, but the quality of each chance was something for NU to keep its head up about. Junior
Nicole Gorman had two strikes that tested Hofstra's goalkeeping tandem of Jenna Borresen (45 minutes) and Madeline Anderson (45 minutes). Senior
Kayla Cappuzzo fired a shot in the second half that grazed the top of the bar but was a hair too high to get Northeastern on the board.
Freshman
Sophia Thompson made her first collegiate start as she opened the game with a strong 17 minutes for the Huskies.
Junior
Nathalie Nidetch recorded two saves for the Huskies, including a save in the final five minutes that kept it a 1-0 game.
Northeastern maintains third place in the CAA but will have to watch their backs as College of Charleston looms only a point behind them.
The Huskies return to Parsons Field on Sunday, Oct. 15 for senior day as NU honors its five seniors prior to facing William & Mary at 1 p.m.
