BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Amidst the emotions and celebrations of Senior Day at Parsons Field, the Northeastern women's soccer team (10-5-2, 4-1-2) used an offensive explosion to cruise to a 4-2 win over William & Mary (6-9-2, 2-4-2).

The Huskies celebrated the achievements of seniors Mollie Rosen, Hannah Lopiccolo, Taylor Caparo, Kayla Cappuzzo and Carly Wilhelm as the five seniors enter the twilight of their Northeastern soccer careers.

For Cappuzzo, the match quickly turned from celebrating past success to leaving a permanent mark on the Northeastern record book. With the game tied 1-1 in the 36th minute, Cappuzzo lifted a cross to junior Nicole Gorman who smashed home a shot to make it 2-1 Huskies. With the assist, Cappuzzo became the all-time leader in assists at Northeastern as she recorded her 20th career helper.

In the second half, Cappuzzo notched another assist as she set up Lopiccolo for the eventual game-winning goal. Lopiccolo's strike was her 20th career goal, putting her in exclusive company as one of seven players to register 20 goals at Northeastern.

Rosen took over for junior Nathalie Nidetch in goal with just under 16 minutes to play in the game. She recorded two saves to help the Huskies close out the win.

Goal Recaps:
  • William and Mary broke through with the game's first goal as Rachel Moore booted a shot off a nice through ball that just crossed the line to make it 1-0 Tribe.
  • Only two minutes after the opening goal, junior Eve Goulet tied the game. Freshman Mikenna McManus launched a corner kick into the box that flew by the William & Mary goalie and came right to Goulet. She tapped the ball in with a well-placed header to make it 1-1.
  • In the 36th minute, Cappuzzo opened up space on the right side and sent a high cross to the middle for Gorman. She wasted no time and ripped a shot into the bottom left corner and gave the Huskies the 2-1 lead.
  • Early in the second half, Lopiccolo and Cappuzzo pulled off a give-and-go which gave Lopiccolo space inside the 18. She bombed a shot off the bottom of the cross bar and in for the 3-1 Husky lead.
  • The goals kept coming as freshman Chelsea Domond connected for her third goal of the season. She worked her way through the middle of the field and tucked a shot inside the left post and increase the Husky lead to 4-1.
  • With one minute left in the match, Elyssa Branton connected on a free kick as she tucked a shot into the top right corner to bring the Tribe to within two.

Up next for the Huskies is their final home game of the regular season as Towson comes to Parsons Field on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
