BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Northeastern women's soccer team (10-5-3, 4-1-3) showed its defensive dominance on Thursday night at Parsons Field, but was unable to score a deciding goal in a 0-0 tie against Towson (5-10-3, 2-5-1).
The Huskies kept the ball in the offensive half for the majority of the game and had a total shots advantage of 36-6. Despite outshooting Towson 18-2 on goal, Northeastern couldn't find the one shot that would seal the deal.
Senior
Hannah Lopiccolo led the Huskies with seven total shots with four of those going on goal. Senior
Kayla Cappuzzo, junior
Hannah Rosenblatt and freshman
Chelsea Domond each had three shots on goal for the Huskies.
Northeastern's back line got involved in the offense often and provided great pressure in the midfield to allow their teammates to have so many shot attempts. Freshman
Julianne Ross had two shot attempts of her own while freshman
Mikenna McManus and junior
Eve Goulet each had one attempt apiece.
Junior
Nathalie Nidetch made two saves for the Huskies as she earned her sixth shutout of the season.
With the tie, the Huskies hold 15 points and third place in the CAA standings. Elsewhere in the CAA, Charleston lost to UNCW, putting the Huskies out of Charleston's reach. Second place Drexel fell on the road to James Madison, giving the Huskies a chance to usurp the No. 2 seed with a win Sunday and another Drexel loss.Â
Northeastern will wrap up the regular season on Sunday at UNCW at 1 p.m.
