Box Score Highlights
DEDHAM, Mass. – Despite a five-point effort from
Jamie Bartucca, No. 19 Saint Joseph's snuck away with a 4-3 win over the Northeastern field hockey team at Dedham Field Sunday in the Huskies' final non-conference game of the season.
Bartucca put Northeastern's first two goals on the board and then aided on
Camille O'Conor's equalizing goal in the 53
rd minute of play for the five-point effort, for her fourth five-point game of the season.
Quinn Maguire achieved the same feat for the Hawks tallying Saint Joseph's first and third goals of the game while aiding on the game-winning goal.
Julia Gluyas played the entire game for the Huskies, save for a 2:46 empty net period, making three saves and allowing four goals on the day.
Victoria Kammerinke played all 70 minutes in goal for the Hawks allowing the three Husky goals while making five saves. Kammerinke has only allowed three goals in a single on two other occasions this season.
GOAL DESCRIPTIONS
FIRST HALF
Northeastern 1-0: Northeastern got out to a 1-0 lead in the 3
rd minute of play. After O'Conor picked the pocket of a SJU defender, she drove her way into the circle and drew the penalty corner opportunity, the first of the game. On the corner, MacLachlan's shot, that was going left of the goal was redirected into the back of the net by Bartucca for her 14
th goal of the season.
Saint Joseph's 1-1: St. Joe's evened the score just a few minutes later when Quinn Maguire notched her first goal of the day sneaking behind Gluyas and tipped in a pass from Jordan Olenginski to make it one-all.
Saint Joseph's 2-1: Anna Willocks gave the Hawks their first lead of the day in the 13
th minute of play when she threw her stick out and sent a rising shot past Gluyas as she was falling down.
Saint Joseph's 3-1: The Hawks took a two-goal lead as Maguire tallied her second goal of the day redirecting a pass from Corinner Gerber into the back of the net. Maguire set herself up to the right of the goal and just ticked the ball in for the score.
SECOND HALF
Northeastern 3-2: Bartucca notched her second goal of the game in the 38
th minute of play. After a long pinned St. Joe's in the corner, the Huskies forced a turnover starting play on the 23-meter line.
Aniek van de Graaf fed a pass through to
Kellie Stigas who got it up to Bartucca. The senior captain deked a defender, lost the ball for a second, got it back and from point-blank range smashed a shot in to make it a one-goal game.
Northeastern 3-3: Camille O'Conor evened the score at three-all in the 53
rd minute notching her sixth goal of the season. The play was started by Bartucca who earned her fifth point of the day launching a hard pass inside that snuck by a couple
St. Joseph's 4-3: The Hawks put in the go-ahead goal in the 59
th minute of action as Emily Peters set herself up just outside the right side of the goal and was in the perfect position to take a pass from Maguire and redirect it in for the eventual game-winner.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will round out the regular season next weekend against Drexel on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by the regular season final against the defending National Champions in No. 11 Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. The Senior Day activities will begin approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.
