WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Northeastern women's soccer team (11-5-3, 5-1-3) scraped out a 1-0 win against UNCW (6-11-2, 2-6-1) in the final game of the regular season.
Despite the win, Northeastern will finish with the No. 3 seed in the CAA tournament as Drexel came away with a 4-0 win at Elon to lock down the No. 2 seed.
Junior
Nicole Gorman recorded the lone goal for Northeastern as senior
Kayla Cappuzzo notched her 22nd career assist.
In net, junior
Nathalie Nidetch was spectacular as she stopped all nine shots that came on goal for her seventh shutout of the season and second shutout in as many games.
The victory marked Northeastern's fifth consecutive win over the Seahawks dating back to the 2013 season.
Goal Recap:
- The Huskies opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a pretty play from the right side. Cappuzzo ran up the wing with the ball and sent it perfectly into the box for Gorman. She stepped into the ball and sent a high blast that tucked itself into the top left corner and gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
Northeastern gears up to host the No. 6 seed College of Charleston at Parsons Field on Sunday, Oct. 29 in a CAA quarterfinal matchup with the winner advancing to the semifinals at Hofstra.
