BOSTON – Captain Nolan Stevens recorded his first collegiate hat trick and Ryan Shea added a career-high three assists as the No. 15 Northeastern men's hockey team (5-2-1, 3-0-0) moved to 3-0-0 in Hockey East for the first time since 2008-09 with a 4-1 victory at No. 12/11 Boston University (4-5-1, 2-2-1) on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead on a goal from Bobby Hampton before Stevens extended the lead to two with his first of the night with 0.1 seconds left in the period. Stevens went on to add two more in the middle frame, including one on the power play to give NU a 4-1 lead through 40 minutes.

Ryan Ruck got the start in goal, making 14 saves before exiting the game with an injury. Cayden Primeau stopped all 19 shots he saw in relief, including 14 in the third period to preserve the lead.

The win gives Northeastern its first win against the Terriers since Feb. 27, 2015, snapping an eight-game winless skid, and gives NU a win to open November for the first time since 2009.

The Terriers outshot NU 34-24 in the game and won 39-of-65 faceoffs, while NU was 0-of-3 on the power play and held BU to a 1-of-3 showing.

Goal descriptions
• Northeastern struck first with 8:16 left in the first period on Hampton's second goal of the year, finishing off a give-and-go with Grant Jozefek. After Hampton dished to Jozefek below the goal line, Hampton cut in towards the cage, taking the return feed and one-timing a shot that beat Oettinger under the glove.

• The Huskies extended the lead to 2-0 with 0.1 seconds left in the opening frame on Stevens' third of the year. With the teams playing four-on-four, Matt Filipe chipped a loose puck off the wall to Stevens entering the zone. With time ticking down, Stevens flew in and snuck a shot through the pads of Oettinger just as the clock expired.

• Boston University got one back early in the second period on Greenway's second of the season. With the Terriers buzzing around the attacking zone, Patrick Harper skated up along the right wall before threading a saucer pass across to Greenway on the doorstep for the tap in past Ruck.

• Stevens brought the Northeastern lead back up to two midway through the middle frame with his second of the evening. Filipe began the play by taking a big hit along the wall to move the puck to Zach Solow. Solow and Shea then played catch with the puck before Solow's shot from the left side was blocked, but the puck popped right out to Stevens in the slot who hammered it home.

• Stevens completed the hat trick with 1:59 to play in the second period with a redirection in the slot. With Northeastern possessing the puck for nearly two minutes, the Huskies went up 4-1 as Solow fed Shea with a shot at the point that made its way through traffic to Stevens, who got a stick on it for his third of the game.

Stats of the game
• Northeastern is now 59-164-9 all-time against Boston University, and snaps an eight game winless skid against the Terriers dating back to 2015.

• The Huskies are now 3-0-0 in Hockey East play for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

• Stevens recorded his first career hat trick on Saturday, and has five points (four goals, one assist) in his last two games.

• Shea had a career-high three assists, and has five in his last two games.
