HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- After a back-and-forth opening half that saw No. 1 Hofstra (15-3-2, 9-0-0) take a 2-1 lead, the No. 3 Northeastern women's soccer team (13-6-2, 5-1-3) couldn't muster an equalizer and fell in the CAA championship game by one goal.
Winners of three of the previous four CAA titles, the Huskies endured their first ever loss in a conference championship game. They were 4-0-0 in CAA finales dating back to their first championship in 2008.
Sophomore Kerri Zerfoss scored the lone goal for the Huskies in the loss. Junior
Valentina Soares Gache recorded her second assist of the season on the goal. Junior
Nathalie Nidetch made five key saves in goal for the Huskies.

Eve Goulet were named to the All-CAA tournament team for their outstanding play throughout the tournament.
Hofstra will advance to the NCAA tournament with an automatic berth. The Pride finish the CAA season on a 12-game win streak.
Goal Recaps:
- Hofstra came flying out of the gates with the game's first goal. Hofstra played the ball into the middle from the left wing, looking for a header. The ball was played by Bella Richards to Lucy Porter who fired a quick shot over Nidetch to the top-right corner for the opening goal.
- Northeastern answered in the 16th minute after drawing a free kick just over midfield. Soares Gache launched the ball into the box and found the head of Zerfoss. Her header redirected the ball by Jenna Borresen and in to tie the game.
- Hofstra's second goal came off a free kick to the left of the NU 18 box. The ball was played in by Monique Iannella for a header by Jenn Buoncore that went bar-down to make it 2-1 Hofstra.
Barring a potential at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, seniors
