HARRISONBURG, Va. – In a game that came down to the wire, the Northeastern men's basketball team was unable to knock off James Madison at the Convocation Center as the Huskies fell 73-69 on Saturday afternoon.

Bolden Brace paced the Huskies for the second-straight game, setting a new career-high with 21 points on the day behind five 3-pointers while also adding four rebounds. Brace knocked down 11 3-pointers over the course of the last two games.

Only seven Huskies (13-11, 6-6 CAA) suited up for the game, as Northeastern's leading scorer T.J. Williams was out with an injury. But all seven recorded at least three points on the day while four tallied double-digit scoring. In addition, all but one pulled down at least two rebounds in the game.

The Huskies took the lead briefly on a 3-pointer by Brace with eight-and-a-half minutes remaining, erasing a 12-point first half deficit to take a 57-56 advantage. But Shakir Brown raced down and laid one in to give JMU back the lead, one that the Huskies tied at 67-all with less than two minutes remaining, but were unable to overcome.

Brown finished 16 points while pulling down six rebounds and was a perfect 4-for-4 down the stretch from the free throw line to help seal the victory for the Dukes (7-18, 5-7). James Madison was paced by Jackson Kent who had a game-high 25 points including the layup that put the Dukes ahead for good.

After starting off behind 12-2 at the first media timeout, the Huskies kicked things into gear in the final 12 minutes of action in the first half jumpstarted by a Jimmy Marshall layup.

After Marshall's first bucket of the half, Kent followed with a jumper to which Marshall promptly answered with a three.

Back-to-back buckets by JMU gave the Dukes an 11-point lead, but Brace answered with a slam with 8:38 left on the clock that helped the Huskies offense come alive.

Both teams went shot for shot down the stretch, though the Huskies hit four-straight 3-pointers, including back-to-back treys by Brace.

Marshall flew in for a dunk aided by Begley while Boursiquot found Brace streaking down the court for a fastbreak thunder jam that resulted in JMU calling a time-out as the Huskies made it a four-point ball game at 36-32.

After another JMU turnover, the Huskies cut the deficit to just two as Begley found Boursiquot in the lane for the layup but Kent hit a three with time winding down to make it a five-point game at the half.

Coming out of the locker rooms, the Huskies tied the game up at 39-all as Murphy laid one in and Shawn Occeus hit a deep three to even the score at 39-all.

But as fast as the Huskies tied things up JMU made it a five-point game as Lukic hit a three and Kent converted a turnover on the inbound into a layup. Kent then extended the JMU lead to eight with a three-point play.

Marshall responded cutting the lead to five with a trey that gave him a season-high 10 points. He finished 4-for-5 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep while also adding a couple slams in his final game in his home state of Virginia.

A Brace three made it a two-point game, 49-47 and after JMU extended its lead once-again to five, back-to-back treys by Brace put the Huskies up by one late in the ball game.

But JMU regained the lead quickly and never looked back to hang on for the victory.

The Huskies head back out for the final game of this road swing when they travel down to Charleston for a Thursday night contest against the Cougars beginning at 7 p.m.
