NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four members of the Northeastern track and field team completed competition at Southern Connecticut State's Decathlon on Friday afternoon. In a field of 11 competitors, junior Matthew Richards lead the Huskies with a score of 5798, good for 7^th overall.
 
Richards placed in the top five in three events, including a second place finish in the 1500m run with a time of 4:51.43.
 
Rookie Leo Moronta's first five events were highlighted by a third place finish in the 400m dash with a 51.86 finish that was just .23 seconds off the top spot and a fifth place finish in the shot put with an 11.31m throw. On day two, Moronta excelled in the 1500m run notching a 4^th place finish, clocking 4:52.27.
 
Later this afternoon, an additional 90 members of the team will take the track and field at Connecticut's Northeast Challenge and Providence's Ocean State Invite.
