CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Five student-athletes from the Northeastern track and field team completed competition at the University of Miami's Hurricane Alumni Invitational this afternoon having amassed 11 New England Championship and IC4A Championship qualifying performances.
After finishing day one of the men's decathlon ranked fourth with 3606 points, junior
Nick Fofana added another 3264 points on day two for a final score of 6870. The mark is a 137-point personal best and ranks Fofana third on NU's All-Time List.
In his season debut, senior captain
Kwame Fordwor turned in a 10.94 100m dash that currently ranks fourth on the team.
Senior
Kyle Darrow began heating up, earning a second place overall finish in the long jump with a 7.35m performance. Darrow's school record sits at 7.78m from the 2016 outdoor season. In addition to the long jump, Darrow clocked a 21.63 finish in the 200m, good for 14
th overall.
Rookie standout
David Adams doubled up on hurdle events this weekend, grabbing a top ten finish in the 400m event with a time of 53.68. In the 110m hurdles, Adams finished in 14.88 seconds, which ranked him 17
th in the field of 23 competitors.
Ryan Kim rounded out the Husky pack with a fourth place finish in the shot put. Kim threw a season high 16.80m, his third New England and IC4A qualifier of the 2017 campaign.
THE ROAD AHEAD
Next weekend, the Huskies will be dispersed around southern New England, competing at Providence's Ocean State Classic, Connecticut's Northeast Challenge and Southern Connecticut State's Decathlon.
