PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -- The Northeastern women's rowing team captured its fourth straight CAA Championship on Sunday morning, sweeping all races to secure its seventh conference title on the Cooper River. With the victory, the Huskies secure the league's automatic berth in the NCAA championship later this month.

NU has now won CAA championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 following today's performance. Heather Foti, Margaret Walsh, Madison Mailey and Hayley Oleksiak were all named to the All-CAA Team, while head coach Joe Wilhelm was awarded the conference's coach of the year honors. In addition, Walsh was named to the CAA All-Academic Team. Northeastern finished the day with 36 points overall, six ahead of Drexel (30) to win the conference title. Villanova took third with 22 points, while Delaware, Eastern Michigan and Buffalo took the four through six spots, respectively.

The Huskies took control of the championships from the outset, cruising to open water victories in all three points races. In the first varsity, Drexel would keep pace with Northeastern in the early going, but NU was eventually able to pull away as the race wore on, defeating the Dragons by 13 seconds at 6:33.059 to Drexel's 6:46.284.

Northeastern found similar success in the second varsity, speeding to a 14-second victory with Drexel in second. The Huskies would jump out to an early lead in the race and never look back, clocking in with a time of 6:43.517 to Drexel's 6:57.262.

Drexel once again challenged the Huskies for the top spot in the varsity four race, but Northeastern put its speed on display throughout the race, pulling away with the victory at 7:31.288 to knock off the Dragons by 14 seconds.

In the third varsity, a non-scoring race, Northeastern and Delaware went stroke for stroke the length of the course. The Huskies, though, eventually pulled away to secure the win by three seconds at 7:04.530.

Northeastern will head back to New Jersey for the 2016 NCAA Championships from May 26 through May 28. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
