Coates reveals 2017-18 swim & dive schedule

2017-18 Women's Swimming & Diving Schedule

BOSTON – Northeastern women's swimming and diving head coach Roy Coates announced the Huskies' 2017-18 schedule on Wednesday. NU will face a challenging slate of opponents as it competes in three home meets, makes a return appearance at the Frank Elm Invitational, and battles against its local rival, Boston University.

"This year's meet calendar provides our team with an array of dynamic competition," said Coates. "We look forward to our conference meets as well as several additional dual meets and an invitational against some the best Division I teams on the east coast. We will be challenged to be at our best each time we dive into the pool.

"Additionally, taking a foreign tour to Ireland mid-season will be a tremendous opportunity to continue our training while experiencing new people and culture in an amazing environment. It will be a fun year."

The Huskies' 2017-18 season launches off with their annual Red vs. Black intrasquad meet on Sept. 30 at Barletta Natatorium.

During the following week, the Huskies will remain at home and celebrate Parents and Alumnae Weekend on Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, when they will be competing against Wagner.

On Oct. 21, the Huskies will hit the road for the first time this season to compete in a dual meet against the James Madison Dukes.

Northeastern will return home and go head-to-head with its longtime rival, Boston University, on Nov. 8 at Barletta Natatorium.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Huskies will participate in the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19. Northeastern won the 2014 Frank Elm Invitational and has collected three straight top-three finishes at this event.

On Dec. 2, Northeastern will head over to Wildcat territory where they look to gain a repeat win against New Hampshire.

The Huskies will take their annual winter training trip this year to the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin, Ireland, from Dec. 28 to Jan 4.

Northeastern will battle it out in a tri-meet against Delaware and Drexel on Jan. 6, as hosted by the Blue Hens. The following week, the Huskies will switch gears as they head north to challenge Vermont on Jan. 13.

NU closes its home season with Senior Day at Barletta Natatorium against Central Connecticut State on Jan. 20 at 12 p.m.

The Huskies will participate in two more invitational meets as they prepare for the CAA Championship. First, the diving team will compete at the Duke Dog Diving Invitational, as hosted by James Madison on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4. The swimming and diving teams will reunite at the Terrier Invitational, as hosted by Boston University on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10.

Northeastern will enter the CAA championships from Feb. 14 to Feb. 17, where the Huskies hope to better their fifth-place finish from 2017. The NCAA Zone Diving Championships will be held from March 5 to March 7, and the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, from March 15 to March 17.
