CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After winning a pair of play-in games, former Northeastern men's basketball player and current video coordinator Joel Smith and The CITI Team have advanced to the main bracket of The Basketball Tournament.

Smith and his squad earned one of the final four spots in the 64-team tournament field by winning two games at the first-annual TBT Jamboree, which took place June 16-17 at Philadelphia University.

During the Jamboree, Smith averaged 15.5 ppg, 3.0 apg and connected on nine threes in two games to help his team upend a pair of teams including the Josh Selby-led Brothers Dat Ball.

With the victories, the CITI Team enters the tournament as a 13 seed in the South Region and will begin play on Saturday, July 8 at 9 a.m. at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C.

First up for The CITI Team? The No. 4 ranked Kentucky Kings who feature Erving Walker (Florida), Scotty Hopson (Tennessee) and 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion Jeremy Evans (Western Kentucky).

With a win, Smith's squad will play the winner of the No. 5 Tampa Bulls (University of South Florida alumni) vs. No. 12 Seven City Grain matchup on Sunday, July 9 at 11 a.m.
