BOSTON, Mass. -- The Northeastern women's soccer team (6-4-1, 0-0-1) returns home to host College of Charleston (5-3-0, 0-0-0) at Parsons Field in NU's second CAA match of the season on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Alumnae Weekend
Northeastern head coach
Ashley Phillips has invited all women's soccer alumnae to attend Alumnae Weekend festivities to celebrate NU's women's soccer program. Former student-athletes are invited to join the Huskies on Sunday for the match to show support for the current team and to reconvene with old teammates and coaches.
Milestone Hunting
Lopiccolo, who reached the 50-point mark against Texas, isn't the only Husky looking to rewrite the record books this season. Senior
Kayla Cappuzzo is one point away from joining Lopiccolo in the 50-point club and is three assists away from tying the all-time record for career assists at Northeastern. Junior
Hannah Rosenblatt is also looking to add her name to the 20-goals list as she is sitting on 18 career goals heading into the match.
Can't stop Kerri
Kerri Zerfoss has been on a tear this season in only her second year with the program. Brought in as a midfielder, Zerfoss played the majority of the 2016 campaign at center back and was an integral part of Northeastern's defense en route to the CAA championship. This season, she has split time between the midfield and the backline -- and has been effective on both sides of the ball. The Peabody, Mass. native has found the back of the net three times so far in 2017 and has added one assist. Her 13 shots on target rank second on the team this season.
Scouting Charleston
Entering conference play with an overall record of 5-3-0, Charleston aims to improve upon its 3-3-3 showing in CAA play last season. As the No. 6 seed in the 2016 CAA tournament, the Cougars fell 1-0 to James Madison in the first round. The Cougars have won four consecutive games heading into Sunday's match. In those four games, they've scored 12 goals and conceded none. They had matches against Miami and Florida Atlantic cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Charleston ran the table in the 25th Anniversary Alumni Weekend tournament by beating North Florida, 3-0, and Jacksonville, 4-0.
