FRIDAY'S TAKEAWAYS

• Northeastern slipped to 1-1 during its three-game, January home stand upon receiving a 69-58 defeat from Drexel on Friday night. The Huskies were led by juniors Jess Genco (23 points, seven rebounds) and Gabby Giacone (14 points, eight rebounds).

• NU experienced its second defeat of the season when shooting above 40 percent from the field, lowering its record to 5-2. The Huskies shot 41 percent from the field against the Dragons' 46-percent clip.

• Jess Genco posted the fourth 20-point scoring game of her career and second within Northeastern's last four games. She has led the Huskies in scoring during four of the team's first six CAA games of the year.

• The Huskies have now gone winless during each of their last six games against Drexel, dating back to their 73-65, overtime victory in Philadelphia on Jan. 8, 2016.

ALL-TIME AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY

Northeastern and William & Mary have met exclusively during the CAA regular season since the Huskies joined the Tribe in the conference prior to the 2005-06 season. NU trails the all-time series, 10-9, but holds a 7-3 advantage against William & Mary during games played at Cabot Center.

BY THE NARROWEST OF MARGINS

Considering Northeastern and William & Mary's previous 19 series meetings, both teams are separated by only 13 points of total offense. The Huskies held a one-point lead in all-time scoring through the series' first 18 meetings (1,139-1,138), prior to suffering a 68-54 setback to the Tribe during the two team's most recent outing: Feb. 3, 2017, at Cabot Center. Entering Sunday, Northeastern trails William & Mary in the all-time scoring battle, 1,206-1,193.

Of the 11 single-digit results that both teams share, seven games have been decided by six points or less. Northeastern is 4-7 during single-digit games against William & Mary, but has sported five double-digit victories against the Tribe's three.

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY

William & Mary arrives in Boston fresh off a Friday matinee at Hofstra, during which the Tribe were held to a season low, 54 points, while receiving an 11-point defeat from the Pride. The 2017 CAA semifinalists rank second to only Elon this year in scoring offense (72.4 points per game) and third in the league in scoring margin (+7.1). However, the Huskies have successfully kept 11 of their first 17 opponents below the 70-point threshold this season, including all but one of their first six CAA foes (Elon).

Shooting is by far William & Mary's forte. The Tribe lead the league in field goal percentage (45.7) and free throw percentage (71.5), in addition to ranking second behind Northeastern in 3-point field goal percentage (33.8). Three-time CAA Player of the Week Abby Rendle paces the conference's sharpshooters with her 55.9-percent field goal clip. A towering threat in the post, Rendle is the CAA all-time career leader in blocks, entering Sunday with 306 to her four-year career. Junior guard Bianca Boggs ranks third on the conference leaderboard in scoring (16.2 points per game), while senior guard Jenna Green (115 assists) is close to breaking the Tribe's all-time assists record, in addition to leading William & Mary in minutes per game (38.0). Two-time CAA Rookie of the Week Nyla Pollard will play her inaugural game at Cabot Center on Sunday, averaging 5.3 points per game as a member of the Tribe's starting five.

CLOCKING IN

As of Jan. 18, junior point guard Jess Genco ranked fourth among active NCAA Division I women's basketball student-athletes in career minutes played (3,028). As a sophomore, Genco led the nation in minutes per game (38.71) during the 2016-17 season – one year after ranking second in the same category (38.94) during her freshman campaign. Entering Sunday, she leads the CAA and ranks in a tie for third nationally (38.88).

#CAAHoops PLAYERS OF THE NIGHT

Northeastern's two #CAAHoops Player of the Night selections rank as the second most in the conference behind Delaware's three. Gabby Giacone won the league's inaugural title on Dec. 29, receiving 46 percent of the Twitter fan vote (hosted by @CAABasketball) after her 15-point, 10-rebound effort against Towson. One week later, Jess Genco landed in the winner's circle with 44 percent of the vote, having scored a season high, 21 points, and registered a career high, six steals against UNCW. Fans are encouraged to visit @CAABasketball on Twitter following each CAA game day and cast their vote in favor of the Huskies.

CLARK WINS FOURTH CAA ROOKIE HONOR

Freshman guard Stella Clark collected her fourth CAA Rookie of the Week honor of the 2017-18 season on Jan. 8, becoming the fourth Northeastern women's basketball player to win four or more conference Rookie of the Week honors (first during the program's CAA tenure). Clark averaged 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds during the Huskies' 1-1 CAA road trip through North Carolina, pacing the NU bench with 11 points on Jan. 5 against UNCW.
