Northeastern vs. Vermont: Five things to know
1. Northeastern is 14-2-2 at Gutterson Fieldhouse since Vermont joined WHEA prior to the 2005-06 season. Last season, the Huskies battled back to earn a 3-3 tie at UVM; after falling behind 3-1 through 40 minutes, goals by
Hayley Scamurra and
Kasidy Anderson leveled the scoreline in the final frame.
2. Since the start of 2018, junior
Kasidy Anderson and sophomore
Matti Hartman are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Senior
McKenna Brand leads all NU players with eight points (1-7-8) in five games this calendar year, and enters the weekend riding a 10-game point-streak overall (5-12-17 during that span).
3. Senior
Lauren Kelly enters the weekend as one of five defenders in the nation with at least four power-play goals this season. All four of Kelly's power-play tallies have come against WHEA opponents. Kelly's four PP markers are tied for the team lead with
McKenna Brand,
Denisa Krizova and
Kasidy Anderson.
4. Junior goaltender
Brittany Bugalski enters the weekend just 38 saves shy of 2,000 for her career. Only seven netminders in program history have stopped 2,000 or more pucks: Chloe Desjardins (2,808), Florence Schelling (2,681), Chanda Gunn (2,447), Marisa Hourihan (2,388), Erika Silva (2,236), Shannon Meyers (2,215) and Leah Sulyma (2,042).
5. According to USCHO.com, the Huskies have played the toughest schedule in the nation to date. Northeastern is 2-5-1 against the top-10 thus far, including a win over No. 1 Wisconsin on Nov. 24, a victory at No. 2 Boston College on Jan. 12, and a tie vs. No. 1 Clarkson on Sept. 29. Northeastern is the only team in the country with multiple wins over teams ranked No. 2 or higher in the polls this season.
