BOSTON – After posting one goal and three assists in victories over Connecticut and UMass Lowell, Northeastern men's hockey's
Tyler Madden was named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday.
On Friday night against Connecticut, the Deerfield Beach, Fla. tallied two assists, including the primary helper on
Brandon Hawkins' game-winning goal with 1:14 left in regulation to give the Huskies a 3-2 victory. Then, on Saturday, Madden had a goal and an assist, including the game-tying strike with 4:28 left to force overtime and setup the eventual game-winner in overtime.
Madden is third on the team with four goals and five assists this season, and has five points (one goal, four assists) in his last four games. He's tied for second in the conference in rookie scoring and tied for fifth among all freshmen nationally.
This is the first time this season that Madden has collected conference accolades.
Madden and the Huskies hit the road this weekend when No. 13 Northeastern travels to Vermont for a 7 p.m. puck drop Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
