BOSTON – Unbeaten in five of its last six games, the No. 13/15 Northeastern men's hockey team hits the road this weekend for one game at Vermont on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Howlin' Huskies, currently second in the Hockey East standings early in the year, have won three straight against the Catamounts dating back to last season, and are coming off victories against Connecticut and UMass Lowell last weekend.

Mustaches for MacLeod
During the month of November, members of the Northeastern hockey program will be growing mustaches in support of former player Wade MacLeod, who is currently battling brain cancer. MacLeod has a Grade 3 Glioblastoma tumor, and recently had his fourth surgery in the last five years.

Donations in support of MacLeod and his family can be made through the family's GoFundMe page by visiting NUHuskies.com/Wade.

All-time series with Vermont
While Vermont holds the slight edge in the all-time series with Northeastern at 32-26-7, it's been the Howlin' Huskies who have taken control in recent years. NU swept the season series last year at 3-0-0, including a weekend sweep at Vermont in February.

It was Northeastern's first weekend sweep at Vermont since 2012, and a victory on Friday would mark the first time in team history that the Huskies have won three straight at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

Madden collects conference honors
After posting one goal and three assists in victories over Connecticut and UMass Lowell, Tyler Madden was named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday.

On Friday night against Connecticut, the Deerfield Beach, Fla. tallied two assists, including the primary helper on Brandon Hawkins' game-winning goal with 1:14 left in regulation to give the Huskies a 3-2 victory. Then, on Saturday, Madden had a goal and an assist, including the game-tying strike with 4:28 left to force overtime and setup the eventual game-winner in overtime.

Down, but never out
Saturday's win marked already the fourth time this season that Northeastern has trailed entering the third period and came back to win the game (Oct. 12 at SHU, Oct. 27 vs. St. Cloud State, Nov. 9 vs. Connecticut). Northeastern is outscoring opponents 19-10 in the final frame, a +9 goal differential that ranks third in the nation.

Dating back to 2008, Northeastern hasn't won more than three games when trailing after two periods since 2013-14, when the Huskies went 3-9-1 when behind after 40 minutes of play.

Primeau goaltending
Cayden Primeau, the Hockey East Goalie of the Month for October, is 6-3-1 in 10 starts this year.
Saturday's win vs. UMass Lowell marked the 25th of his young career. Only five goaltenders in team history have won at least 25 games into their first two collegiate seasons:

• Ryan Ruck - 38
• Bruce Racine - 30
• Marc Robitaille - 28
• Chris Rawlings - 27
• Brad Thiessen - 27

Access Grant'd
One forward who has stood out in particular for the Huskies this season is junior Grant Jozefek, who is tied for second in the NCAA with eight goals and tied for 16th overall in scoring with 12 points. Jozefek is one of just three Huskies since 2012 to score eight goals in his first 10 games of the season, joining Adam Gaudette (2017-18) and Kevin Roy (2013-14). Gaudette went on to score 30 that season while Roy potted 19.

Road warriors
Northeastern, one of 17 teams in the NCAA with three road wins on the year, is outscoring opponents by an average of 2.00 goals per game away from home this season (15-7), good for a tie for fifth in college hockey.
