Primeau Interview
BOSTON – Zach Solow scored his fourth of the season early in the third period, and
Cayden Primeau was immense from start to finish as the No. 13/15 Northeastern men's ice hockey team (7-3-1, 4-1-1) picked up its third straight Hockey East victory with a 1-0 win at Vermont (3-6-0, 1-5-0) on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
Primeau made 26 stops to earn his second shutout of the year, moving into sole possession of fourth all-time at Northeastern in career shutouts (six) after just 45 career games. Primeau was also assisted by his defensive corps, which blocked 14 shots during the game including two each from
Jordan Harris,
Ryan Shea,
Matt Filipe and
Eric Williams.
With the game scoreless through two periods, Northeastern came out flying early in the third as
Grant Jozefek moved the puck up to
Brandon Hawkins in transition. Hawkins then flew into the attacking zone and fired a shot on goal that UVM netminder Stefanos Lekkas (27 saves) kicked aside, leaving the rebound out to a waiting Solow on the doorstep for the finish and eventual game-winner.
The Howlin' Huskies penalty kill came up big all night, going 4-of-4 on the evening and limiting the Catamounts to just three shots on goal.
Northeastern will be back in action next Saturday night when the Huskies host RIT at Matthews Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m., and tickets are available by visiting NUHuskies.com/tickets. The game will also be televised live on NESNplus.
